No Harbaugh said he would get clarifications on holding recievers beyond 5 yards, not on getting hit hard.

Memo to allday38: Harbaugh wasn’t complaining or making any remarks about “rough play.” He was talking about illegal contact. Maybe you haven’t been paying enough attention to notice this but there is actually a rule on this – no contact after five yards.

@radrntn If it was a Raider, they would have not made the tackle. Probably jogging on the field instead.

@allday38 Apparently you don’t understand football. Heres a hint, you tackle the guy with the ball. What you can’t do is bump them off their routes 5 yards after their release. But then again maybe you are a fan of a team that doesn’t know how to play defense, like @radrntn. In that case, My condolences.

It was old school because it was brutal…it was new school because of technique. Gave me flashbacks of Ronnie Lott protecting the middle of the field. Different game and different time, but it was still a great hit and very glad to see ED get up and shake it off.

That hit was typical for Goldson, and he almost never gets penalized because he leads with his shoulder instead of his helmet.

And that’s why all the people who whine about not being hit anymore are full of crap. There is no rule about how hard you can hit, as Goldson demonstrates regularly.

I love that hit, it was old school clean lick, that was a clean hit. It was reminiscent of Ronnie Lott patrolling the secondary. It was also reminiscent of the time when the middle was no man’s land for any receiver who even dared cross that land.

Loved the hit. That’s how football SHOULD be played. But, I have seen similar hits get flagged for the “defenseless receiver” nonsense. Is this another call, like holding and PI, that’s going to constantly be redefined every game by whichever official is calling the game and what mood he’s in that day?
