St. Louis Rams head coach Jeff Fisher did everything he could to put to rest any talk of the Rams dealing running back Steven Jackson before Thursday’s 4:00 p.m. ET trade deadline.

“The Steven Jackson rumors are rumors. He’s our running back,” Fisher said, via Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. “We’re not calling around, nor are we getting calls for that matter. Put that to rest.”

Jackson is officially under contract through 2013, but Jackson can reportedly void the final year of his deal and become a free agent at the end of the season. Jackson has spent his entire nine-year career in St. Louis and has posted 1,000 yards rushing in each of the last seven seasons.

Through eight games, Jackson has 108 carries for 403 yards and one touchdown while splitting carries with seventh-round pick Daryl Richardson.
