More problems for Bucs: Carl Nicks to injured reserve

The Buccaneers’ offseason shopping spree took another hit Tuesday, when the team announced that guard Carl Nicks was going on injured reserve with a toe injury.

Nicks has been dealing with the injury all season, but apparently had a recent setback.

The team announced they’ve promoted guard Roger Allen from the practice squad to replace him.

Nicks was part of the Bucs’ splash in the early hours of free agency, along with cornerback Eric Wright, who is facing a suspension for failing a test for Adderall. They’re probably encasing wide receiver Vincent Jackson, the other big buy, in bubble wrap as we speak.

Too bad. One of my favorite all time Saints players. Dude’s a BEAST! Saints running game really misses big Carl.

Brutal, brutal, brutal, brutal, brutal, brutal….Did I mention brutal?

Nicks and Joseph both? Could have had the on of the best O-Lines in the league, and most of it is on IR…brutal!

There are simply not enough expletives available in all of the combined Indo-European languages to express my feelings about this.

Nicks was a great late round pick. Possible issues coming out of college and was nothing but a great pro for the Saints. We filled the void as best we could but there aren’t many better. Sorry to hear he is having injury issues. Hopefully the toe isn’t a long term thing and he gets better.

Tough task to ask a practice squader to move up Wednesday, practice and be well versed in the scheme and calls and then execute against the raider D-line and blitzing LB’s after traveling across the country to do so.

Doug Martin is a sure-fire star in this league but it will be tough afternoon for him Sunday.

Big loss for my Bucs, but maybe we can swing a trade for a decent Guard to plug in while Big Carl heals….I’m sure there might be a few teams out there that would trade an O-lineman for a RB and WR like Blount and Benn.

Get well Soon Carl! Go Bucs!!!
