The return of linebacker Bobby Carpenter was brief. At least he got a trip to London out of it.

The Patriots have announced that Carpenter, a first-round pick of the Cowboys in 2006, has been released. He signed with the Patriots in early October, appearing in four games.

Carpenter spent the preseason with the Pats, being cut just before the start of the regular season. Because he was cut before the trade deadline, Carpenter immediately becomes a free agent.
