Getty ImagesThe Texans didn’t want to lose Jonathan Grimes to begin with. And now they have him back.
According to John McClain of the Houston Chronicle, the Texans claimed Grimes off waivers, after the Jets cut him.
The Jets had signed Grimes off the Texans practice squad earlier this year. He appeared in three games, with two carries for six yards.
An undrafted rookie from William and Mary, Grimes led the Texans in rushing this preseason.
UPDATE 5:35 p.m. ET: To make room for him on the roster, the Texans released linebacker Mister Alexander.

This must mean Ben Tate’s toe and/or hamstring has not improved. It could also mean Justin Forsett my be returning kick offs… the Texans’ return game has been horrible.
Look for Ben tate trade coming soon. Tate for a high profile linebacker or high draft pick.
Forsett and grimes can back Foster up.
tell mister “lol ” alexander good luck lol
It’s clear now that the Jets picked up Grimes only to obtain inside info about the Texans’ offense.
Jonathan Grimes, or “Grimey,” as he likes to be called, taught us that a man can triumph over adversity.
Hate to see they had to cut Mister Akexander. He and Brian Braman seem to be the only guys making plays on the special teams coverage units.
I don’t understand why they cut Holiday wasn’t he running back kicks with success this preseason? Was he fumbling in Houston too like in Denver?
tigerblood,
Yes, fumbling some, poor decision making as for when to bring it out on kickoffs, when to fair catch punts, etc. Also, most importantly no returns like preseason.
