Several years ago, all three airports in the Baltimore/Washington area were shut the day before the Detroit Lions were to play at Baltimore because of a snow storm. All three airports were open the next morning, the day of the game.

The Lions got NFL permission to fly in Sunday morning, and the Ravens and Lions got NFL permission to delay the game from 1:00 PM to 4:30 PM.

It’s possible, and has happened in the past, but it’s rare, especially since NFL rules state that the ‘away’ team MUST be in the city of the game the day prior to the game.

I would think that players rest better sleeping in their own beds the night before? Should be fine as long as the pre-game routine is not disturbed.

Dungy’s right. It’s not ideal, but it won’t be a problem. It certainly won’t be the reason (if) they lose the game.

Well, the major difference is the Superdome was completely & totally unplayable while the Saint’s were displaced. I assume since they’re not moving it, NY’s stadium is fine and able to be played in safely (both fans and players)..

Uh, yes they do. They travel on Saturday and stay overnight for all road games, no matter who they play. If they play on the West Coast, they sometimes even travel on Friday.

Shouldn’t be a major issue. It really sucks what some of the poor folks in New York and New Jersey are going through right now, so this minor inconvenience is hardly even worth bringing up. I just hope it’s as great a game as I think it will be!

The Steelers most certainly do spend the night before a game in Baltimore, Cincinnatti, or Cleveland in the host city. I thought it was an NFL policy that the visiting team had to be in the host city 24 hours before game time?

Anyway, no excuses. Should be a great game, hope the Steelers come out on top.

Wrong. League rules require the visiting team be in the host city the day before. The Steelers received a waiver for this game.

All teams travel Sat. Stay in Hotel Sat. night and usually return home after the game. And yes svn when the Steelers play in Cinn. or Balto.

To the guy bringing up College football teams that nobody has heard of, congrats for going to that school or being a fan.
But the Steelers can’t complain, considering they only have to make a 40 flight granted it messes up they’re routine a bit. Not like they are playing a California team!

And yeah let’s move the game away from a perfectly good stadium because the steelers don’t want to stay an hour away, when the state has been ravished by floods and destruction, where half people will go just to get away from it, where people are suffering and the giants players themselves have no power all week, yeah let’s inconvenience them more than they have to be, players living at friends houses and residents who have lost everything, yes let’s take the game away when the stadium itself is in perfectly good condition, I live here and that comment just pisses me off. Because the precious steelers can’t stay somewhere like Philly or hell forty minutes south has plenty of hotels in west jersey untouched by the storm, man you’re dumb. These players, my own damn family won’t have power for weeks, our homes flooded out, my parents and uncles house washed away, but you want to take the damn game away from the state because steelers CHOOSE to drive because their four star hotel of choice is without power? When there hundreds of hotels a mere hour away in perfect working condition. Get a clue

Whoever said this game should be played in Pitt is ignorant, there is absolutely no damage to the stadium and it’s not being used for shelter, unlike NO AND there are hundreds of hotels right a merely hour to hour and a half away that they could stay at, right across the way. It’s the steelers choice, that since they couldn’t get a hotel NEAR the stadium they figured it would be better to just drive. Moreover, Pitt had the storm huddled over it for days, that field would be a complete mess and more of hazard to player injuries than the meadowlands. If anything the game should be pushed to Monday, but moving it to another stadium when the meadowlands is fine? Plain ignorant.

Most Giants are getting power back in their homes tonight or tomorrow. Some won’t have it back for 10 days. Others had to walk through a combo of river water and sewage to get to their car so they could attend practice and try to concentrate in the film room. Those are distractions, not a cushy 47 min flight followed by a catered meal (all within the same time zone)

I think the Ravens have a form letter the Steelers could borrow. The one they used a few years back to petition the league to not have to play in Pit at night. Just tweak a few words here and there.

Pitt to NJ is an easy one day trip. So it shouldn’t affect the outcome I this game.

But actually ilove Pitt does stay in a hotel in those trips. Most home teams also stay in a hotel near the stadium the night before a game.

What hoops? Stay home an extra day, fly in, play ball and fly back home. Sounds like a good deal for the Steelers. How can you compare NO in 05 when that stadium was deemed to be unsafe. Met Life Stadium is completely safe and suffered no damage. As for the comment about the coast, that’s just dumb. New York is the greatest city on this planet…..hands down!! I’ve never met, heard, or knew anyone that actually wanted to visit Pittsburgh!!
