The Falcons will be without one of their best defensive players when try to stay undefeated Sunday against the Cowboys, as Falcons coach Mike Smith announced Sean Weatherspoon would be out this week because of an ankle injury.

According to D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal Constitution, Akeem Dent will replace Weatherspoon in the starting lineup.

Dent plays the middle when the Falcons line up in their base defense, but said sliding outside wouldn’t be an issue.

“It’s no different for me,” Dent said. “I always watch Sean when he’s in there. I’m getting mental reps if I’m not in the game or in practice.”

Weatherspoon sprained his ankle (low, not high) last week against the Eagles, and hasn’t practiced this week.
