Two days after releasing running back Keith Toston and signing linebacker Brandon Marshall, the Jacksonville Jaguars have reversed course.

Jacksonville re-signed Toston on Thursday and placed Marshall on waivers.

With three backs on the injury report, the Jaguars needed to shore up their depth at the position. Maurice Jones-Drew has already been ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Detroit Lions with a foot injury. Fullback Greg Jones hasn’t practiced this week with a hip issue and Montell Owens has been limited with a shoulder injury.

Toston returned two kicks for 49 yards against the Green Bay Packers last week.

Derek Cox (back), Dwight Lowery (ankle), Rasheen Mathis (groin) and Brad Meester (foot) also did not practice for the Jaguars on Thursday. Cox and Mathis had both been limited during Wednesday’s practice before sitting out Thursday. Blaine Gabbert (left shoulder) and Laurent Robinson (concussion) fully participated.
