Getty ImagesThe Giants will still host the Steelers on Sunday at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. But the Steelers have a minor problem.
They can’t find a hotel that is able to accommodate the team.
According to Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the Steelers will travel to and from New York on the same day, in lieu of spending the night in the New York/New Jersey area.
The fact that the Steelers play at 4:25 p.m. ET will ensure that the players get enough sleep. Still, it’s a major disruption to the normal game-day and night-before schedule.

Dont worry Big Ben’s stAying at the same one as Lawrence Taylor…
Sorry if I have a hard time feeling sorry for the Steelers.
This game should’ve been moved to Pittsburgh or rescheduled.
I hope the combination of the power being out and lack of transportation makes the ratings/attendance an all-time low.
Sandy has impacted SO many people. If it affected you, I am sorry. You really see the impact it is having, New York in particular.
To the young women of NYC, you are now safe…. Big Ben will not be staying in your city over night.
Maybe Ben can lead them to a good bathroom !
my family can’t find food or water you JA.
Don’t visiting team book the hotels before the season starts?
No room on the couch at the Florio villa?
Giants are cheaters!
…they couldnt at least get a hotel in philly or somewhere close by so they could have a quick road trip in the morning?
Not having electricity and water for a week is a major disruption.
You mean NFL organizations wait until the week before to book hotels?
The steelers will lose this game, but sweep the ravens and end up 10-6. They will get the fourth seed and what happens in the playoffs nobody know.
Oink Oink!!!
oh well, its like they say “next hotel up”
Wow, what a absolutely terribly written story! No where do you mention the reason that can’t find a hotel: no electricity at the hotels near MetLife Stadium. It is not a matter of “accommodation”.
Hello? Integrity calling!
Stiller43 – I agree with you there’s got to be somewhere where they can stay closer (like Philly, or maybe Scranton)… its only an hour flight from PGH to JFK, but still that doesn’t include getting from JFK to the stadium, etc.
Thoughts and prayers with people in NYC – hopefully you get a good game to root for on Sunday (not too good – Go Steelers!)
It’s almost as if there was some way the Steelers would have known ahead of time that the would be playing in NY.
Costanza is the assistant to traveling secretary for the Steelers?!?
The excuses will ensue immediately after the game from their fans if they lose.
Hotels are booked well before these games. So, not being able to find one is phony. Maybe they are considering moving this game.
Roger can’t put them up at his house?
God the Big Ben jokes are so old and tired.
GO BROWNS!
napoleanblownapart6887,
Newark Airport is a 15 minute ride with Police Escort. The stadium is in Hackensack,NJ. Actually very doable, Pitt/Newark 1 hour flight and short bus ride.
Napoleon, why would they fly in to JFK? Seems like Newark would make much more sense for a quick bus trip to the Meadowlands.
People here with little brain power – this message is for you: The hotels were booked. There was a hurricane. The hotels that were booked can no longer accept visitors because of their condition, power, etc.
Steelers are so tough they dont need no stinken hotel. They will just camp outside metlife stadium. Promptly waltz in at 425pm for kickoff. Own the giants and fly back to the burgh. Its what they do people. Get used to it. Cause steelers are gonna make some big time noise this weekend. Dont wanna give us respect? We will have to take it then! Only 1 nation. That’s steeler nation! Embrace it. Its real!
What happened to the rule that teams must be in town 24 hours before the game?
Just read the PG article. Hotel has no power.
Good thing they play in NEW JERSEY

Yet you make them about the Ravens galore.
And I’m a Giants fan, but they blatantly covered up evidence. He did it. They will never be “tired” OR “old”.
For the sake of the intellectually challenged, you might have mentioned that yes, they do make reservations, but you see there was this little storm, and now the hotel they had reservations at is closed and without electricity water or sewer service… seems pretty bleeping obvious, but apparently a lot of the folks here just couldn’t figure that one out. Aim low, much much lower, to find the common denominator for your audience.
Not only might their originally scheduled hotel now either be full of storm refugees/rescue personnel/responders now or possibly not even available due to not being in operation, those same ‘refugees’ are further filling up any & all vacancies for miles & in surrounding states & venues after having evacuated from the path of the storm or subsequent damage & waiting for such time as they might begin to return home.
The stadium might be the only place to get a decent meal in NY right now.
Pittsburgh nation should moblize the single wide brigade and head up to the Meadowlands, grab a few choice parking spots and start the tailgating a little early. When the Stealers arrive, they’ll feel right at home.
The Steelers were actually able to find accommodations, just nowhere as fancy as they’re accustomed to. The standard is the standard, hotel managers!
God the Big Ben jokes are so old and tired.

Even his fans are just like his victims – young and full of fight
I hope they don’t get any sleep and get a spanking.
I think Ben & the PA State Police may know of some spots they can stay
Lets just move the game to London!
when the giants played the saints after katrina, the saints were force to move the game to new york, I think new york game should be moved to pittsburgh. just saying
they were scheduled to stay at a hotel in new jersey..that hotel is without power..and all hotels with power are beyond over booked because half the city is without water, electric and such!!!! But never let the truth get in the way of posters wanting to try and be clever
Oh great this just gives stealers fans another excuse (just what they need right) when the get pounded out by the giants. Pig ben should be able to pull some strings at one of the college sorority houses in the vicinity to accomodate the team.
yep lets make sure east coast teams get late starts on the east coast so they can get sleep, but let’s make for certain every west coast teams travel the farthest, and when they go on the east give them the early game so they get no sleep, and have to get up at 5:15 am so the can play. Makes complete sense, and absolutely no east coast bias what so ever.
Nope, not gonna happen, Steeler fan.
The Westin is where they were staying, the power is still out. They get no special privileges when 1 in 4 New Jerseyites are without power, especially in the Monmouth, Ocean, Middlesex, Essex, Hudson and Bergen areas (the latter being where both the stadium and hotels reside).
The people who LIVE in Jersey have first dibs on hotels as they completely lost homes, or were flooded out and have no power or heat in this 45 degree weather. Your precious Steelers can get here in time for the game and you Steeler fans’ excuses will not be heard if they lose.
Here are a few true facts
The Weston in Jersey City has no power hence no rooms. I am sure there are some rooms but not what the team was looking for.
Metlife is in Ruterford NJ not Hackensack
The Aints moved there game as the city and Stadium were damaged by a cat 5 storm.
As I recall the cheater dome was a crime scene after the storm cleared. The NOLA Dome was the scene of rape and murder during the storm.
Giants fans can not wait to put aside the storm and cheer for the champs
It’s a joke that this game wasn’t moved. How many cops are typically needed to work the area around the stadium on game day? There are still people who are trapped in their homes, or have no access to food or water. Couldn’t those resources be used some where else?

Not so fast.
When the Metrodome collapsed in 2010, they moved the Giants-Vikings game to Detroit.

Of course the cases are different. One benefited a NY team, the other would not.
I think the game should be played at a neutral location–say, Baltimore.
You know what from some of the comments ive been reading from Steeler fans You make the Raven fans look classy plain and simple Ive been a Steelers fan for over 40yrs and I never been disgraced for being a fan of a team in my life
With the cool weather at this time of the year, why would you need a hotel with power.
This is only an excuse for the whipping the steelers will get.
napoleanblownapart6887,

Now this is a joke The stadium is not in Hackensak . Hackensack is a 20min drive on game day to Metlife down RT17
Our thoughts and prayers are with the residents of New York and New Jersey whose lives have been impacted by the storm. Several posters have mentioned a New York team – there is only one New York team in the NFL – the Bills! Perhaps if the Jersey Jets and Jersey Jints played in New York . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Thats because the Giants play in New Jersey
All of you posters who are making light of this situation need a reality check. I would hate that it would take you to lose a family member or close friend or everything you own to realize that there is a time for joking and there is time to be a human being.
I don’t want to hear a single Steeler fan or player complain about the team not having a hotel. In case anyone missed it, there was a natural disaster that happened a few days ago…a hurricane named Sandy. Millions of people were affected. Some people lost everything except the clothes on their back. At least 60 people lost their lives. People are still being rescued off rooftops. Instead of whining about it being inconvenient or unfair…be grateful.
Im sure they asked Eli weather or not he wanted to stay at home and play or go on the road. Being that its the MFL, the league listened and stayed in NY!
hahaha, good. they will be a .500 team again after this week.
Mike Francesa took the words literally out of my mouth a few minutes ago. The Giants can beat the Steelers anywhere. On the road benefits them, a neutral location. The Giants can beat the Steelers ON THE MOON. They’re the better team.
That’s what he said, and I agree.
Uhh. Mike uhh francesa uh took uh the uhh words uhhh outta uhhh my uhhhh mouth uhhh.
Ive seen families of flies go in and out of his mouth multiple times in the middle of one sentence. Who cares what he thinks? And especially you for that matter.
Gather your tissues and excuses and get ready to whip them out after the Steelers whip you.
