Aldon Smith in another off-field incident, or maybe not

For 49ers outside linebacker Aldon Smith, it’s just another day at the office.

Smith took to Twitter to deny a report that he was “jumped” outside a Missouri restaurant, just the latest in a long line of odd stories surrounding the talented pass-rusher.

Ashley Zavala of KOMU-TV in Columbia, Mo, posted that Smith “was jumped last night near El Rancho restaurant in CoMo. I’ve been told that he’s okay.”

She later followed up that Columbia police reported a “disturbance” outside the same restaurant, but didn’t include names in the report.

Smith later replied in a pair of Twitter messages of his own, saying: “Want to clear up rumors of me getting jumped, I’m ok and doing well! Como! I missed you. Go Tigers!!” and then “Didn’t get jumped_ stop asking.”

According to Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle, an employee of the restaurant “said she was aware of an incident involving Smith, but declined to provide more details.”

A 49ers spokesman said they had been in contact with Smith and  that there “is no substance to the rumors that he was jumped.”

Smith has escaped serious harm in a number of off-field incidents, including a DUI arrest in Miami Beach, a “minor stab wound” at a party at his home, and a few stitches when a car he was passenger in flipped after swerving to avoid a deer, leaving the driver with a serious back injury.

If this was the Suh, we sure would be hearing a lot more about it…about how he should be cut, suspended or thrown in jail.

Wrong place, wrong time is becoming a trend with this dude. Sounds like something happened but he didn’t get “jumped” as that is the part he is denying.

and here come all the 9ers haters and their crazy accusations that he is a trouble maker, even though A. this latest one is being denied, B. only the DUI was his fault, C. there is no details on this one, D. what is being reported was that he was jumped, not that he was the aggressor.

Now, if you want to say he has terrible luck, than yes, I agree. Hopefully the bad luck runs out sooner than later.

he’s just making it easier for the Niners to afford him when his contract comes up for renewal with all of these incidents.

Usually not a good stat that a player has an off-field incident per every sack he gets

Man, these Aldon Smith incidents are getting more and more bizarre. Hopefully he can get things straightened out and get back to having his name put out only when he has a good day rushing QBs. He has that rare size-speed-strength combination that could make him great just needs to get rid of all the off field distractions standing in the way of his potential.

Being stabbed at his own house party isn’t his own fault? And yea only a DUI. What are you on man? There is no such thing as four coincidences…but hey he is a baller.

This guy is trouble. He’s obviously not learning from his mistakes either. He’s not going to change, so better get used to this.

49er fans will disagree but where there’s smoke, there’s fire.

Hope he does not follow the footsteps of talented but troublemaker Charles Harley and ended up being traded or worst – ended up like the the Raiders’ DT Darrell Russell. Wonder if he knew Terrell Owens is broke and Dana Stubblefield is struggled making a living? $$$ easy come and easy go.

    A. actually a pretty funny name, nice job.
    B. the house party was not his own, and he was breaking up a fight (possibly involving his friends, but who hasn’t gone to a party where someone gets a little roudy, just odd someone stabbed him with a pocket knife.)
    C. no such thing as 4 coincedences? so i guess he planted the deer in the road to cause his friend to crash, or he planted the mugger at the restaraunt to ‘jump’ him? what are you smokin?

Finally, the “only” wasn’t downplaying a DUI, it was referring to that only one of the four misfortunes was his fault, the others were him as the victim, not the instegator.
Thus, only haters would say that someone who has been a victim 3 times is a bad person. I fault him for having a DUI b/c that is inexcusable, but that is his only transgression, the other three issues were just unfortunate.

The reports are that Smith was set up to get jumped by Kevin Kolb and Matt Skelton, but Kolb got injured on the way over and Skelton accidentally hit the wrong guy.

Who would “jump” a 6’5″, 270 lb. 23-year-old who lifts weights and runs for conditioning? Would you?

Ok I am going to address a few of these posts… Some people just need to get a clue…

boyd54 if it were Suh he would have sucker punched a guy, pushed his head into the ground multiple times, stomped on him while he was down on the ground, gotten in his car drunk, drove off, speeding, hit a car & continued driving… Comparing Aldon Smith To Suh is comical at best but, idiotic more likely…

schmitty2 “an off-field incident per every sack he gets” eh?… Where are the reports for the other 17 incidents?… He has 21 1/2 sacks in is 1 1/2 years so far… & being stabbed while breaking up a fight is a bad thing happening while doing a good deed… DUI = Dumb Young person move that thousands of teens & young people do… Being in a car that has an accident while someone else is driving & trying to avoid a deer = bad luck… & being possibly involved in an incedent that was reported as him being jumped = didn’t happen… & whatever did happen apparently he was not involved in & or not at fault…

& finally joetoronto “49er fans will disagree but where there’s smoke, there’s fire.” Sometimes what is thought to be smoke ends up being steam… Read the article there is no proof that he was involved in anything & obviously it wasn’t anything major or there would be a police investigation & subsequent report… “A Columbia police spokeswoman confirmed there was a “disturbance” involving two black males at the El Rancho restaurant. Officers were dispatched to the restaurant at 1:56 a.m., but no report was filed…” an exerpt from the hyperlink to Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle’s story…

As far as other off field stuff see above…

Care to share which incidents are made up? The fact is he is constantly putting himself in a position to get caught up in nonsense. He should stay at home and watch game film!

My comment was being facetious or are you too dense to figure that out? My point was its alarming we are hearing about this kid constantly being in negative situations. Whether its his fault or not is irrelevent.
