You guys are idiots. Not even a Cowboys fan and I agree with locking him up. All of you armchair quarterbacks need to look at some of the other teams in the league and their searches for qualified QB’s. Seattle, San Fransisco, Arizona, Minnesota, KC, Buffalo, etc, etc. They’d take Romo in a heartbeat and give him a max deal along with it. Romo has been a better QB than a lot of teams will even sniff in 20 years. Redskins fans should understand this more than anyone. The only people who might not get it are Colts fans and only the young ones. Romo is a legit QB and everyone so far in this thread bags on him because he has a star on his helmet. If you had him on your team you’d be frustrated too, but there would be about 5 maybe 6 QB’s in the league you’d trade him for and that’s about it.
____________________________________________________
Really, better than most teams? Really? I could think of 20 QBs I would rather have than Romo. He's not even a top 10 QB. Look at his resume, what has he done for dallas lately? He's already in his 30s and he's not getting any better than what he is now. We hear this crap but year after year about Romo being great, Romo is going have a breakout year, Romo is the best QB in the East. Guess what, Romo is just the same ol Romo, pick machine and choker.

How is this great news to Skins fans again? Washington is the ONE team that Dallas has owned since Romo has taken over as QB.
____
Think I can borrow some selective memory bro? I just watched The Dictator and I want to forget the 90% that wasn't funny.

Seriously though, since Romo took over in 2006, his record against the Redskins is 6-5.

Also "owned" is an overly strong word there. To both teams' credit, they excel at keeping the rivalry alive: no matter how good or bad one or the other are, or happen to be playing that day, in that eleven game span, there have only been two games decided by more than one score: a 27-6 Redskins triumph and a 17-0 Cowboys shutout.

Boom. Facts.

Heck, they've only won the division twice. After this year, Alex Smith will have done that. Oh, and Smith has exactly as many playoff wins as Romo so how good is he, really? Romo hasn't gotten them to the Super Bowl, NFC Championship...nothing. What he has done is single handedly cost them games that may have gottem them somehwat closer.

everyonethinksitimsayingit says:

This actually makes sense. Lock him up now while his value is lower than ever, then take a qb for the future in one of the next two drafts, grooming him as a replacement. If he struggles, replace him with the younger qb and ship Romo off to a team in need of a QB.
---------
Good thinking except, even now with the stock being low, he'll command a large signing bonus and with the cap hits that would ensue he'd be virtually untradeable.
Better to trade him now for a 1st round pick and package this one with their own to get into top 2 or 3 to get a premier passer.

As a Cowboys fan it makes me sick to hear this gushing over him even when he is playing ridiculously sloppy football. And Jerry wonders why the players never improve in Dallas. No accountability whatsoever…
--------------------------------------------
Actually, there's plenty of accountability with the Cowboys. Every time things go wrong (which is every season), Jerry holds somebody accountable. That it's almost always someone not responsible is another issue. That the accountable person is ultimately Jerry the GM is the problem.

I've talked contract extension with some underperforming employees too. Doesn't mean they are gonna get it either lol. Now with that said Romo isn't the problem.. Yes he isn't always clutch but there is a certain QB in the league with one ring and a spotty postseason win-loss record that is regarded one of the best ever. Now this obviously isn't Romo, but you give him a Jim Harbaugh, Mike McCarthy, Sean Payton or a few other coaches and the smack talk would end. He simply isn't put in good situations enough and that starts at the very top and heads downhill like a locomotive that's lost its air brakes

I’ve talked contract extension with some underperforming employees too. Doesn’t mean they are gonna get it either lol. Now with that said Romo isn’t the problem.. Yes he isn’t always clutch but there is a certain QB in the league with one ring and a spotty postseason win-loss record that is regarded one of the best ever. Now this obviously isn’t Romo, but you give him a Jim Harbaugh, Mike McCarthy, Sean Payton or a few other coaches and the smack talk would end. He simply isn’t put in good situations enough and that starts at the very top and heads downhill like a locomotive that’s lost its air brakes

__________
Love me some Romo bashing, but this guy doesn't have a horrible point.

Problem is that Romo will be 33 in April. If he could keep playing at his current level (last week's game aside) for the next ten years, most NFL teams would be happy to have him, but based on the decline in his level of play from last season to now, it wouldn't be dumb to assume that he's in the downswing of his career.

Given the extreme depth and talent of the 2013 quarterback class, the safest move the Cowboys could make would be to reevaluate the situation at the end of the season and again in March/April. A hasty move with a quarterback over thirty, especially a remarkably inconsistent quarterback, is usually a stupid one.

This actually makes sense. Lock him up now while his value is lower than ever, then take a qb for the future in one of the next two drafts, grooming him as a replacement. Only trade 5 or 6 for romo..... really? Sooo Peyton, Brady, Bree's, Eli, Big Ben, schuab, cutler, luck, newton, rg3, Rodgers, stafford, Matt Ryan and Andrew dalton. There's an easy 13 qbs that are either already better or have more potential than romo. He's a sub par qb surrounded with talent, and is still 24th in passer rating, behind guys like hasselbeck, Wilson, Bradford, flacco, Palmer, ponder, and Fitzpatrick. You gotta stop listening to John elway so much man.
