Rob Ryan: We need to beat the Falcons, and we’re going to

It’s time for our weekly dose of bravado from Dallas defensive coordinator Rob Ryan.

Ryan said that the 3-4 Cowboys know they have a challenge in front of them on Sunday night against the 7-0 Falcons, and he’s certain they’re going to meet that challenge.

“We need to win now,” Ryan said, via Charean Williams of the Star-Telegram. “That’s what we’re going to do. I know the record is not what we want it to be, but the ball is bouncing strange ways. When that thing starts evening out, we’re going to be great, and we’re going to keep playing. We’ve got to win this week, and we know it, and we’re going to.”

Although their record might not reflect it, Ryan says this is a very good Cowboys team.

“You know me, I like credit,” Ryan said. “Our guys, they deserve a ton of credit. Our players work their butts off. Our coaching staff, I’m fortunate and blessed to be around the best coaches. This is the best staff I’ve ever been on, and it’s not close. So good things are going to happen to those that work hard. If we just keep working, we’re going to get better. Despite losing, we’ve lost some really good players, but our guys keep going. We’ve got a whole team in there, not just a few individuals. This is really coming together, and I know we’re going to be special. I think we’re going to be special this week. I really do. I think we’re just starting to get that way, and I believe we’re going to have a special game this week.”

If they want to make the playoffs, the Cowboys are running out of time to string together some special games.

  1. Well if they do win we’ll have to listen to a week of the media about how the COWBOYS SHOW THE BLUEPRINT TO BEAT THE FALCONS.

They’ll drone on about formations and packages, but really it will be like it always is:

    – Don’t turn the ball over
    – Don’t get dumb penalties
    – Don’t give up big plays
    – Force a couple turnovers

  2. Dallas has their backs against a wall. Desperate teams are dangerous, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they pull off the victory. They outplayed the Giants in both matchups this season, and the Falcons aren’t as physical as the Giants.

  3. 1st off your just as big of a joke as your brother! Ha…..ha 2nd this being the best group you have been around is not saying much at all. Wow what a horrible life you must live. 3rd did you not learn anything from that incompetent brother of yours saying his sorry a$$ss team would win the past 2 or 3 Super Bowls. Saying that your going to beat the Falcons could very well lead you down that same path but hey you will get all the MEDIA attention you could ever ask for huh!!!??? Get a life…

  4. Giants Fan here. I agree with Ryan about his defense. They’re good. They played a great game against us last week and if not for Romo and Garrett, we would have lost. What I don’t understand is why he (and his brother) feel the need to emote publicly. It’s like he’s trying to convince himself, the fans and his team using the media.

  5. There are some teams that, overall, just look poorly coached. Dumb penalties. Idiotic clock management. Dropped balls. And it doesn’t take a whole lot to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

So for bravado, maybe try: We’re going to stop playing like a bunch of Jamarcuses.

Oooh they have their backs against the wall… Does that mean Romo throws only 3 interceptions?

I think it means Rob is backing up to the Glory Hole.

  7. Meanwhile, the only Ryan (Matt) in The NFL who is worth a damn will say very little and get little coverage, but will light up this fatass loud mouth.

  8. I guess he figures if he keeps saying the same things long enough, eventually he’ll be right.

Besides, it November. It’s time for the Cryboys to give their fans a false sense of hope and enthusiasm, just in time for the December swoon.

  9. He talks like his defense is shutting teams out. They’re still giving up like 20 plus points per game and don’t create a lot of turnovers

    Clueless in Dallas

  10. A Ryan brother said something.
    A reporter reported it.
    The opposite will happen.

It always does when these two blow-hards pop off.

  11. Who cares if he talks at least he doesn’t say the same old blah blah if we do this if we do that we might win. I wish more coaches coordinators would say how they are going to beat the other team. They also need to start calling players out who miss block, tackles, run the wrong routes etc.

  12. Dear GOD!!! Please just be quiet guys. I am ashamed to be a COWBOY FAN!! I was born in Irving. My pops is rolling over in his grave. Please just shut up and win. And win like you have been there before.

    Eh….no…

While I get your point….this only works if you actually produce results. He did this all last year and his defense was terrible. He has done it this year…and they are 3 – 4. His brother Rex does the same stuff. The media love it…but for the fans, it gets old. Stop talking and start producing.

I do agree on calling out players who aren’t performing.

  14. It’s funny how the team that remains unbeaten says very, very little. Do your talking on the field! Can Garrett even talk? He is the coach yet everyone else talks about the team. Rob and Jerrah…. Yawn

  15. The only time you can get a word in at the Ryan household is during dinner. Would they shut up already?

What do Belichick, Coughlin & Tomlin have in common? They don’t talk, they win.

  16. If they lose is he going to use the we beat ourselves card I hope they do win in a shoot out game bcuz My niners aren’t playing this weekend n I wanna watch a exciting game

  17. He’s a loser plan and simple and you know what makes it even better is he knows he’s a loser !

What did you expect him to say,we are going to lose

    How about saying “nothing”

  19. Ryan has made similar comments in the past like about the Eagles but still went 0-2 against the Eagles last year. The Ryans can’t seem to get it that talk is cheap and accomplishes nothing. Get it done on the field!
