Getty ImagesA pair of road wins featuring dominant performances from rookie running back Doug Martin should be enough to help the Buccaneers extend their sellout streak of, um, one game, right?
Wrong.
According to JoeBucsFan.com, the team remains 9,000 short of a sellout of Sunday’s visit from the Chargers, a team that knows a thing or two about being a thousand or two (or more) tickets away from lifting local blackouts.
The two road victories, over the Vikings and the Raiders, have pushed the Bucs to 4-4. Along the way, Tampa gave the heave-ho to controversial cornerback Aqib Talib, something plenty of local fans desired.
The blackout isn’t official yet. The Bucs have until 1:00 p.m. ET Thursday to move the rest of the merchandise. Or, more accurately, 85 percent of it.
The Bucs managed to reach the 85-percent level during their last home game, against the Saints.
