LaRon Landry colorfully objects to notion of Jets missing playoffs

Jets coach Rex Ryan is excited for the second half of the season even though his team is not currently “sniffing” the playoffs with a 3-5 record.

Ryan’s not the only member of the Jets with an optimistic spirit. Safety LaRon Landry isn’t ready to stop thinking about the playoffs, a point he made quite emphatically when asked about the possibility that the team won’t make it to the postseason.

“We still can be in the playoff run,” Landry said, via Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News. “S---, if we don’t get into the playoffs, man, it’s a boring-ass season. F--- that.”

Landry has some experience with boring-ass seasons. His Redskins teams failed to make the playoffs in four of his five seasons in Washington and this Jets team has plenty of work to do if Landry is going to avoid another year without postseason football. There’s work to be done on both sides, but Landry will be responsible for helping a defense that Ryan said had been “poor” so far this season.

“Anything is fixable,” Landry said. “It’s all about if we want to fix it. We just got to come together and do it.”

If they don’t, there are sure to be some more four-letter words thrown around and at the Jets this season.
