Aaron Hernandez misses practice for birth of baby

Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez unexpectedly missed his team’s Week Eight game in London due to an aggravation of an ankle injury that caused him to miss three games.  He unexpectedly missed practice on Tuesday due to the fact that an expecting mother gave birth.

Via Mike Rodak of, Hernandez missed practice on his 23rd birthday because it also was the day of the birth of his first son.  Hernandez’s brother, University of Miami grad assistant D.J. Hernandez, disclosing the stork sighting on Twitter.

It’s not known whether Hernandez would have been able to practice due to the ankle, if he were present.  The Patriots are preparing to host the Bills on Sunday.  The Pats had a bye in Week Nine.

    Back to back bye weeks for NE?

    Then again, the Bills usually manage to play the Pats tough. Probably not this week, though.

    You have been an amazing athelte, player, and person in general. Its great to have a player like you on the Patriots and I’m glad we locked you in for the long-term. I wish you and your family nothing but the best.

    Quick correction: Aaron Hernandez and his fiance had a baby daughter, not son. Avielle Janelle.

    Saw this guy play every down for my Gators and very glad he’s becoming a star for my pro-team now.
