A day after losing cornerback Terrence McGee and right tackle Eric Pears for the season to injured reserve, the Buffalo Bills have addressed needs to both positions.

The Bills signed tackle Thomas Welch and added cornerback Crezdon Butler off the Arizona Cardinals’ practice squad.

Butler has appeared in three games this season for the Cardinals and Washington Redskins. In three seasons, Butler has recorded just one tackle in eight career games.

Welch has played in eight games with one start during stints with the New England Patriots and St. Louis Rams. Welch has been without a job since being released by the Philadelphia Eagles during training camp.

Butler won’t start, he is just there as back-up. Welch might see some playing time, depending on how well Chris Hairiston does subbing for Pears. Not a big move, but it was necessary.
