A month ago we noted that Lions center Dominic Raiola had become angry when informed that the Lions were the subject of criticism from unnamed league executives. Now Raiola has been hit with more anonymous criticism, and he’s once again fired up about it.
It all started last month when an unnamed league executive was quoted by Pro Football Weekly as saying that the Lions have players who aren’t as good as they think they are. Raiola said that unnamed source was a coward, and then Pro Football Weekly went back at it with Raiola, quoting the same unnamed source as saying that Raiola is “a complete fraud,” and that Raiola needs work just to become “an average backup.”
And so Raiola has shot back at the unnamed source again.
“I’m not going to spend too much time on this because we’ve got a big game this week,” Raiola said. “All I’ve got to say is to two people – whoever talked [crap], and the person who wrote it. Coward. Gutless. Balls-less. They’ve got no name. Anonymous. All I’ve got to say is bleep you. That’s it. Now we move on to Minnesota. That’s all I’ve got. If I spent any more time on it, that’s what they want. Bleep him, and bleep both of them.”
Pro Football Weekly has now apologized to the Lions, saying it shouldn’t have allowed an executive to take shots at Raiola under the cover of anonymity. Raiola said he doesn’t accept that apology.
