APThree weeks ago, Lions rookie cornerback Chris Greenwood emerged from the Physically Unable to Perform list, joining practice.
But now the Lions have decided he’s not ready to suit up and play.
Via the Detroit News, the Lions have announced that Greenwood will not play this year. Greenwood, a fifth-round pick in the April draft, underwent abdominal surgery in May.
Greenwood will now return to the reserve Physically Unable to Perform list for the balance of the season.

This is a Ted Thompson like move…maneuver your roster in a way that does not expose them to the other 31 teams via waiver. Then bring them to camp next June ready to compete for genuine playing time.
Maybe there’s hope for the Lions after all.
What’s up with his nose?
you just had to use the term “shutdown”
Well that sucks.
Get well soon Chris and see you next year!
That has to be the first time I’ve ever seen “corner”, “shut down”, and “Lions” ever used in the same sentence.

LOL.
If Mayhew isn’t on the phone right now trying to get Routt, I will be extremely disappointed in him for the first time since he became GM.
This looks like it helps clear the way for Routt … but Mayhew may have some other trick up his sleeve.
