McCoy misses practice with illness, Herremans hits injured reserve

The Eagles didn’t have running back LeSean McCoy at practice on Wednesday and they won’t have right tackle Todd Herremans for the rest of the season.

McCoy sat out on Wednesday because of an illness. McCoy tweeted Tuesday evening that he hoped he didn’t have the flu and there seems to be a pretty good chance that his hopes went unrealized. There’s no reason to believe that McCoy’s ability to play on Sunday will be put at risk by whatever’s got him under the weather today, but the situation will certainly merit watching as the week unfolds.

McCoy’s absence was a surprise, but the other big Philly injury news of the day was expected. The Eagles placed tackle Todd Herremans on injured reserve Wednesday, which didn’t come as a surprise after the initial reports about his status indicated a season-ending injury. Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports that Eagles trainer Rick Burkholder said Herremans has a dislocated bone in his foot.

McLane also reports that the Eagles will move King Dunlap to right tackle and play Demetress Bell at left tackle with Herremans out of the lineup. Bell replaced Herremans on Monday night and did not do a good job at all in his first appearance on that side of the line. He wasn’t so hot on the left side earlier this season, so the loss of Herremans will likely be a big one for the Eagles.

Wow…both starting tackles and the starting center.

And not to mention, the 3 best O linemen on the team. And in Peters, one of the best in the business.

Everyone talks about the crappy O line…well, you can see why. 1 all pro, 1 pro bowler, and 1 second year player that was playing extremely well, and made all the line calls.

Hard to put together a solid starting line from your practice squad and guys who couldnt even make the 53 on other teams.

The only thing changing by moving Bell to LT is that Vick will now see the onslaught of blitzers bearing down on him

Bad luck, but the Eagles assume blame for cutting/trading backups who could contribute but didn’t fit Mudd’s system. McGlynn, Justice, Jackson are a few that come to mind.

Philly fans were giddy when they signed Bell from the Bills. Now you know why we didn’t care. He’s worse than a street rookie.

I don’t see Vick staying alive through this one.

@catquick – Phily fans weren’t “giddy” when the Eagles signed Bell and LOST the BEST left tackle for the year. Bell was supposedly the best option out there to replace him, but beleive me we weren’t happy about it.

DeMarcus Ware will bury Vick on Sunday. The whole O line is on big turnstile.
