Falcons will be without Weatherspoon again this week

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Vick spins away from Atlanta Falcons defender Weatherspoon during the fourth quarter of their NFL football game in Philadelphia Reuters

The league’s best team will be without its best defender for another week.

Falcons coach Mike Smith just announced that Weatherspoon would miss this week’s game against the Saints with the sprained right ankle that kept him out of last week’s win over the Cowboys.

Weatherspoon has made huge strides for the undefeated Falcons, who plugged Akeem Dent into his spot last week.

Weatherspoon’s athleticsim and coverage ability will be missed against the Saints, especially with tight end Jimmy Graham returning to form.

Bummer….unfortunately, Falcon fans have learned that when Mike Smith soft pedals an injury, it’s usually a lot more serious that first reported.

Well this means that the Falcons can expect an even higher dosage of passes to Jimmy Graham and Pierre Thomas than usual
