It’s been reported that the Lions, Dolphins, and Cardinals are interested in cornerback Stanford Routt.  It was later reported that the Dolphins are out of the running.

Though we can’t confirm or debunk the specific teams that have been named, a source with knowledge of the situation tells PFT that Routt currently has two visits scheduled.

The first, with an NFC team, starts tonight.  The next, with an AFC team, comes Monday.

Routt was abruptly cut this week by the Chiefs, who had signed him in the offseason after he was cut by the Raiders.

I’m sure its either the Lions or the Skins. Lions would make more sense.

The AFC team? Bucs? Maybe Jets?

Routt needs to “Route” himself towards the Lions.

If you aren’t good enough for the Chiefs, I feel sorry for any team that does sign him

Be careful what you wish for. This guy is a human penalty machine.

Hey, he couldn’t be any worse than anyone else in the Skins’ secondary this year.

Kinda hard for the AFC team to be the Bucs…being as they’re in the NFC and all.

    AFC Team: Bucs?

    wellwtf:

He didn’t get cut from the Chiefs because he wasn’t good enough for them.

He was cut from the Chiefs because he wasn’t good enough relative to his pay scale and future higher pay scale in conjunction with their ability to win this season.

The guy has stiff hips and trouble locating the ball. He’s fast… really fast… but football instincts and positional skill set are seriously lacking. His salary may have been a consideration for cutting from both the Raiders and the Chiefs… but make no mistake, if the guy could ball at corner, he’d still be with one or the other.

Wow three teams would be paying him .wow!

Bucs need to take a look at him. Unless they burned him that bad when we played them.

the way injuries have hit the Lions secondary he’d be no worse than the Lions #3 CB this week.

The Lions have a ton of confidence in their pair of DB coaches (Tim Walton, Marcus Robertson), and I wouldn’t at all be surprised if they take a shot on yet another reclamation CB project.

I sure hope he’s in a Lions uniform by next week against the Packers…

Lions boring. Three of their games this year have been on NFL Instant Replay. Probably two more could have, as well. I don’t know any nice way to say this: When you write, you sound stupid.

Another signing bonus coming. He knows how to work the system.

Wouldn’t be surprised if the Patriots take a look at him to possibly play on the other side of Talib so they can move McCourty to safety full time and keep Kyle Arrington stapled to the bench where he belongs while tossing Dennard some reps here and there to groom him to take the #2 CB spot over in the future…Not sure what Routt’s issues are as I haven’t seen much of him but if the Chiefs are picking up most of the bill then I could see BB snapping him up and giving him a shot because let’s face it: Our secondary is terrible (at least before the Talib trade)
