It’s been more than a week since the Chargers were last on the field, but left tackle Jared Gaither’s groin has not improved since their win over the Chiefs.

Gaither entered that game listed as probable and started that game, the second straight game he played after missing the 35-24 loss to the Broncos just before the bye. Gaither, who missed practice the last two days, also missed the first three games of the season because of a back injury after re-signing in San Diego as a free agent this offseason.

Michael Gehlken of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports that Gaither will test his injured groin once the team is in Tampa, but calls Gaither’s presence in the lineup “very iffy” at present. If Gaither can’t go, rookie Mike Harris would return to the lineup for the first time since he played in that loss to Denver that featured a second half collapse for the ages by the Chargers.

Defensive end Corey Liuget is also questionable thanks to a hamstring injury that caused him to miss practice the last two days. Liuget has made all eight starts this season, picking up 18 tackles and two sacks for a Chargers defense that ranks fourth in the league against the run this season.

The Chargers are coming off a convincing win against the Chiefs, who they’ve beaten for two of their four wins this season. This week’s task is to convince people they can win against teams that aren’t the Chiefs.
