On replay, it can be seen that Lewis made a spectacular defensive play. Whatever minor incidental contact was no different that what happens on essentially every passing play in every game and is typically not considered a penalty. Being a judgement call, you have to defer to the official, but 95 times out of 100, an official will not call a penalty for such contact.

Take your idiotic “butthurt” statements and stick them where they, we’ll you know.

This is not about whining, this is about consistency with enforcement of the rules. One faker only stopped a clock and got fined, the other earned a sure touchdown and is not even discussed.

I’ve seen the officials get this call wrong on a number of occasions. I don’t have a problem with the rule, I have a problem with how often it’s falsely called.

Second of all, Cruz stated it was a clean hit, and stated his head was fine.

Was the official supposed to run over to the downed player and ask what was wrong?

All you Steeler fans are so butt hurt over getting screwed. Your team layed cheap shot after cheap shot over the years, and now, like the Lions, refs are trigger happy.

As we all know, the refs blew the call – and it could have been very costly. It could have kept two deserving teams out of the playoffs (i.e., PIT and possibly some NFC team screwed by the Giants victory), and got two more in (i.e., NYG and possibly some AFC team benefiting from a Steeler loss).

And YES, you’re absolutely right – it is a goofy notion (to be kind) that it’s somehow acceptable to “err on the side of protecting the players.” That’s a very lame cop-out.

How about if the League just tries to get it right, and doesn’t rationalize obvious botched idiocy as if they have some higher purpose. Just get the calls right, without some preconceived lens directing to throw flags and ask questions later.

No doubt Cruz’s reaction to the hit caused the ref to throw the flag- and dont forget, Cruz didnt miss a down after that play even though he was said to have had “bruised ribs” afterwards.

That horrible call gave the Giants a 1st and goal instead of a 4th down. Where is the outrage over this on the same day a Steeler gets fined for faking an injury as well?

Sounds like you’ve never taken a hard hit to the ribs. I’ve had 2 ribs broken on 1 side at the same time and trust me the pain is excruciating.. It’s also hard to breathe .. Cruz didn’t come back until after halftime btw
