Packers prepare for life without Bulaga

Arizona Cardinals v Green Bay Packers Getty Images

Earlier this week, the Packers were “gathering information” about right tackle Bryan Bulaga’s hip injury.  The information is now in, and it’s not good.

Pete Dougherty of the Green Bay Press-Gazette reports that the Packers could be without Bulaga for several weeks, or possibly for the rest of the season.  The Packers are off this weekend.

Dougherty points out that no offensive lineman missed a snap for eight games; now, T.J. Lang could slide from left guard to right tackle, and Evan Dietrich-Smith could replace Lang at guard.  The next injury, however, would push an undrafted rookie into a starting job.

A first-round pick in 2010, Bulaga missed four games last season.

piling up the injuries after the trade deadline. not that TT would trade for anyone. hard to say that it feels like the superbowl year but one can hope.

Aaron Rodgers gonna need more than the discount double check. Packers gonna need to add Allstate insurance to make sure that Aaron Rodgers in good hands.

An already injured team gets more injured…

If this o-line gets even worse, it’s only a matter of time before Rodgers get injured.

There goes the season right? the Packers over the last few years have lost many linemen for extended times and never missed a beat primarily because if you can pass block you can be a Packer.they will be just fine.

  8. conormacleod says: Nov 9, 2012 8:56 AM

Looks like that defense of their regular season championship is in jeopardy. But good news! They’ll still lose in round 1 of the playoffs due to their crappy defense. Yep. They won’t miss a beat from last year.

Year after year it is the same teams dealing with mass amounts of injuries. At what point do we ignore coincidence and maybe take a look at the training staff?

Evan Dietrich-Smith. His best move is untying an opponent’s shoelaces.

Man you guys are snake bit. Help dabears, but it still sucks

  12. taintedsaints2009 says: Nov 9, 2012 10:31 AM

Any other team would be doomed but the packers I think will be just fine. Their Injuries so far haven’t really caught up to them, except jordy Nelson, but then again Cobb and james jones just step right in. They even got a guy, I think his number is 11, who could step in and do quite well.

Their defense isn’t any better or worse without all of those starters they lost.

Good coaching. Packers won’t skip a beat.

If this o-line gets even worse, it will still be better than the Bears.

He’s pretty good at getting players to commit stupid, suspend-able, personal fouls too.

Ok where or what is the story? Is Beluga as I call him seriously hurt, partially hurt, out for one game, 3, the season?
You have no bullets in this gun.

I hope he doesn’t have a serious hip injury. If so I wish him well.

This guy sure gets hurt a lot — maybe it’s the constant stress created by overcompensating for his abnormally short arms.

You’re right tackle is Phil Loadholt – you don’t get to have an opinion on this subject.

    “Life Without Bulaga?”

Overstated title much. They lost an average o-lineman, not Aaron Rodgers. You’ll see almost no difference in the team.

  20. threedeep1998 says: Nov 9, 2012 12:22 PM

If the Packers had these injuries against legit teams (not ARZ, STL, JAC) they’d be doomed. Cream puff schedule at it’s finest. Just wait until this team plays a decent defense like NYG again

  21. buffalose says: Nov 9, 2012 12:33 PM

Everyone toasted buffalo for not drafting him top 10, said they ha to reach. I’m sure he’s happier there than the bills but glad we didn’t force him as a LT

I think the story said he would be out for several weeks and possibly the season. It wasn’t that hard to find. It’s even underlined and highlighted in red.

  23. eightandeightlions says: Nov 9, 2012 1:30 PM

The Packers’ best performing tackle is, and has been, the one wearing stripes. Something tells me they will be just fine. In fact, this will likely be spun into a story of perseverance.

  24. deltaoracle says: Nov 9, 2012 3:47 PM

Bulaga wasn’t having a very good year anyway. But I’d think they would want to sign another OT this week. They’re not far away from having Ryan Pickett or Raji playing on the OLine.
Threedeep1998, AZ and St. Louis do have decent defenses. Not great, but decent.

Some where a packers fan is saying next man up! but the truth is the packers are getting weaker an weaker an at the end of the season when its time to go to the playoffs they wont have the players to win.

    ==================================

Did you work for the Romney campaign, whereby you can make any statement you want and if you repeat it often enough it might become true?

Despite the injuries, the Packers have gotten better on O and D each week since Seattle, and they will most players back before post-season arrives. This is the exact opposite of your statement. Take a hint.

Whoa. Stellar, I got respect for ya, I really do, but seriously? Gabbert and Skelton have gone for 300 the last two games, and GB had 238 total yards of offense against Jax.

I did like the Romney joke, though. I’m just glad he didn’t win with that tactic, or the monkey see-monkey do politicians would all be doing the same thing for decades.
