Saints streak of being home favorites ends this week

This has been a season unlike any other for the Saints.

So it makes sense they’re seeing betting lines unlike any other.

According to Jeff Duncan of the New Orleans Times-Picayune, the Falcons are a 2 1/2-point favorite Sunday.

That means the Saints are an underdog at the Superdome for the first time since 2008. The streak of 31 straight games as a home favorite speaks to the quality of football the Saints have played, and the kind of home field advantage they’ve enjoyed.

The last road favorites there were the Panthers on Dec. 28, 2008, and they were a 1-point favorite (and won 33-31, which explains why I don’t gamble).

The Saints have been favorites in 51 of 55 home games since the stadium got its post-Katrina renovations. The other three were all in 2006.
