Getty ImagesThe Cowboys apparently weren’t sure about cornerback Mike Jenkins’ status, so lineback Gary Guyton didn’t get a chance to unpack.
Jenkins is questionable with a back problem, so the Cowboys promoted cornerback Vincent Agnew from the practice squad, according to the team’s official website.
They made the roster spot by making Guyton’s stay a short one. He signed Wednesday and practiced three days before being released. They figured to need him with linebacker Dan Connor (stinger) doubtful, but they’re apparently more worried about having enough cover players than run-stopping inside linebackers.

He could have been a contender
I would of kept Guyton. I’m sure he’s played corner being a former Patriot. Was actually excited to see him play.
Cutting a LB when your team needs linebackers is a great move by a great GM! ….sarcasm!
Is fragile Mike Jenkins hurt again? He probably injured himself avoiding contact. He’s just another example of Jerry’s country club. if you look good enough in the suit, you’re in!
The Cowboys actually have decent depth at LB but they are without Lemon and may be without Connor. LBs will be needed to stop the running of McCoy one of the better RBs in the NFL.
CB Jenkins has just been a waste for the last two years and I don’t know why Jerry was so determined to make him play out his contract. He really doesn’t seem to want to play and he isn’t really needed.
