When Pats tight end Aaron Hernandez initially injured his ankle on September 16, it was feared he’d be out up to six weeks. Which means he’d miss five games.
Through Sunday, Hernandez will have missed those five games.
Hernandez reportedly won’t play on Sunday, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Hernandez unexpectedly didn’t make the trip with the team to London for a game two weeks ago against the Rams, and he has called himself a “game-time” decision for Sunday against the Bills.
The Pats activated tight end Visanthe Shiancoe from injured reserve on Saturday, which gives them a potential replacement for Hernandez.
After missing three games following the original injury, Hernandez played in two games. A setback in the days preceding the Rams game knocked him out for the London contest, and the bye week hasn’t allowed him to recover to the point where he can once again play.
