Alex Smith out of game with concussion

Jim Harbaugh, Alex Smith AP

The 49ers have had to make a change at quarterback, with Colin Kaepernick replacing starter Alex Smith.

The team has announced he suffered a concussion and will not return.

Smith was being checked by team doctors on the sideline, and just walked into the locker room with the medical staff.

Smith took a hard shot from Rams linebacker Jo-Lonn Dunbar, the apparent cause of the injury, but continued to play after that.

I have a feeling this will also put an end to people calling for Kaepernick to start as well. Hopefully himself, Gore, Hunter, and the D will do enough to get the win though

    Uh-oh.

Despite Kaepernick’s strong arm I anticipate the playcalling to suffocate him. Short passes, checkdowns, and just a couple bombs. Nothing in between. Oh, and a lot of running.

Once you’re labeled a running QB it’s tough to shake it. Let him air it out because he’s likely going to be your starter next week.

He already missed Davis wide open by a country mile and didn’t see Williams doing jumping jacks in the endzone with all defenders 30 yds behind. No era has begun believe that

No worries 9er’s fans. I’m a Ram’s fan and we will still find a way to give the game to you

There’s no reason to think this team is going to be able to score any more touchdowns.

Defense is going to have to stop them from here on and offense is going to have to kick field goals to putt this one away.

    16-14 for the Niners.

Lucky these QB’s didn’t play in the 60’s; they wouldn’t have lasted a Quarter. I’m surprized they don’t make them wear air bags.

I noticed when the Cardinals hosted the Rams that the Rams are not out to just play football — they are out to injure people.
No surprise that they c-bombed Smith.

Rams are playing really hard today, but I’m sad to hear Smith is out. Hopefully he plays against the Bears next week to make it more competitive.
