I agree with many posters on here. We don't want the NFL to turn in to those fake soccer injuries, however how can you possibly prove sanders didnt have a cramp? And more importantly players fake injuries in every game to slow down a no huddle offense, or preserve a timeout.

The leagues ruling was that sanders didnt have a history of having cramps, and that he came in the next play and gave full effort, and was first down the field in punt coverage.

Ok, so now we are going to base decisions on a players previous history of injuries?? And I suppose no other player has ever left the field for an injury and then came back and made a tackle, caught a pass, or ran for a first down?? So unless a player comes back after a injury and sucks on the next play he was faking?

You can't just draw your own conclusions because you "think" he's guilty.

It's all about player safety right commissioner ? So should a player risk further injury because he's worried if he leaves the field comes back you might decide he was faking it, and you will fine him ?

This commissioner is so transparent, yet the only one calling him out on it are the fans. This is a slippery slope.

The only way my Ravens will beat the Steelers next weekend is if all of them are suspended. The league really let down Ravens fans! No justice!

Those two Giants that faked the injury at the same time, what was their punishment?

The reality is, with the issues with injuries hurting players for YEARS after their careers over, it isn't a good idea for the NFL to be doing things like this.

change the rules so that if a player leaves with a injury they can’t come back untill the next possession instead of one play..i imagine that would end that right there………..
-------------------
What a great idea! It would also be to the players benefit to get a few minutes to shake off the effects of a legitimate pain instead of rushing right back into the fray.

In the spirit of fair is fair since Sanders deserves such a fine for "faking" an injury(no one but 88 really knows) then I pose this question! How much of a fine was levied on the referee who called the phantom pass interference on Lewis against the giants? How big a fine did the ref pay for the helmet contact call in the end zone on Cruz that was clearly shoulder to chest? How much of a fine was levied for the missed block in the back on Heath miller on the "fumble" return for a td(if in fact it was a fumble)? The league and that group of officials did a fine job for the giants trying to make ny feel better after the horrible effects of sandy but that's not right in the scheme of things and should be addressed if we're going to address a "fake" injury which no one can prove! And before anyone goes bashing me about this sandy reference know that my daughter and her fiancé live in sunnyside queens and so I not unsympathetic to the situation at all in fact I am as involved as a non-resident could be, but that situation has nothing to do with the NFL! I love those kids and feel sorrow for all the victims of sandy, the deceased, the injury, and all of those affected otherwise but what happened in that game was wrong and can be proven no better than sanders injury so where are their fines?

I think the NFL has gone about this the wrong way. Another case of them taking action without having physical proof.

If Sanders was pulled into the court of law with a judge and jury, he walks. In fact, it never would have gotten to court because a judge would have thrown it out. There is absolutely no way of proving that he did not have a cramp.

Do I believe he had a cramp? No. I don’t believe the Saints were a 100 percent clean football team either, but regardless, if you take legal action against a team, you need to have all your ducks lined up properly with compelling evidence in hand. You can’t take action against people based on hunches and speculation, I’m just worried that one of these times it’s going to backfire against the NFL in a really bad way.
---------------------------------------------------
I agree with you, but this is not a court of law. It is Roger's kingdom, and he does not need any evidence, or anything else. His WORD is absolute law.

Reason #867 why Goodell should be removed as commissioner: it is now the morning before week 10's games and, instead of talking about that, the NFL would have us focus instead on one inconsequential play from week 9 where a payer may or may not have had a cramp. Is mismicromanagement a word?

The NFL and God-del is a total joke. I have been a fan since the 70s. There is no consistency with anything. Sanders did what he did and who really knows. But if the NFL is fining him and the Steelers, then what are they going to do with Victor Cruz from last weeks game against the Steelers. Cruz not only faked a concussion but being knocked out completely! All on a hit to his rib cage, which drew a terrible call by the striped puppets. Cruz and the Giants should be investigated and face stiff consequences. As either Cruz faked the above or came back in a game when he was knocked cold. A major no no w the Concussion checks. Lets see what God-del does!!!
Sanders and his agent can use this to prove the point of inconsistency.

Why are you so insulted by this? Every team talks about it and uses it when they need it, you just dont always notice it bc they do a good job of hiding it. Faking a cramp to rest your players is standard practice in rugby as well. He made it to obvious and he got fined. In baseball we use pine tar, vasoline, and steal signs. Who are you Smith and all of these commentors to pretend for one second that they wouldnt do exactly the same?? Its just plain and simple not a big deal.

Yep Patriot42..Just like Belichick knew exactly what he was doing in Spygate..but since him n goodell were buddies and Kraft has the money he did it regardless.

Its frustrating when players get in trouble for something Goodell "THINKS" could of happened but when things really do happen it slids under the rug. Its sooooo inconsistent.

No. I don't believe the Saints were a 100 percent clean football team either, but regardless, if you take legal action against a team, you need to have all your ducks lined up properly with compelling evidence in hand. You can't take action against people based on hunches and speculation, I'm just worried that one of these times it's going to backfire against the NFL in a really bad way.

"Well said!! Just take your medicine and move on otherwise join a hockey or soccer team if you want to be a dramatic actor."

..Because hockey players aren't notoriously tough enough for you? playing on a sheet of solid ice, punching faces and whatnot... how soft, right?
