Fred Jackson may have a concussion

As the Bills try to recover from a close loss to the Pats and prepare to face the Dolphins on Thursday night, they may not have one of their top offensive weapons.

Running back Fred Jackson left the game late with a head injury.

I don’t know if they’re calling it a concussion,” coach Chan Gailey said after the game.  “I don’t know what the word is.  I don’t know if it’s a concussion or not.  They didn’t tell me.”

If Jackson can’t play, C.J. Spiller will once again carry the load.  On Sunday, he had 13 touches for 131 yards.

I fail to understand why the Bills OC called a pass for Fitz. Spiller gashed the Pats run defense, but he chose to give Fitz the opportunity to win…

Yeah, I bet he does on that cheap shot helmet hit by Spikes.

I would have run Spiller also. They had no one (especially not 5.3/40 Spikes) who could run with him.

    Blessing in disguise

i love freddy but this may be blessing bills have a short week(thursday game) will have the best running back on the field cj spiller

Ok, that’s three reported concussions today; let’s just ban the sport and start playing soccer along with the rest of the Nancy-boys.

The Bills head coach out coached himself and cost his team the game. Cj is the most electrifying player in the NFL and he’s not given the rock. On the game winning drive ?Shame on him.

13 touches for 131 yards? I really think gailey has something against spiller… He is special but Chan keeps him on the sideline more often than not. It’s a joke

Spiller is something else. What a talent, the Patriots’ run defense had played well this year and they tackled well too but Spiller made them look bad on the field today.

Gailey has got to get him the ball more, I’m just happy the Pats don’t have to play that guy again he’s a great player.

I love Fred Jackson and he has played with a lot of heart in Buffalo but it is time to get Spiller the bulk of the carries. No more of this 50-50 split.

richwizl, you are an idiot. Do you not understand the dangers of a concussion?

CJ Spiller is the beat back on that team. It is a shameful waste for that coaching staff to not start Spiller every game. No wonder they are average at best, they don’t even start their best players.

Once Spikes turns Beast Mode on there’s no turning it off!! It just rains concussions and helmets. AHHHH YEEEAAAHHH

  14. billsfan1 says: Nov 11, 2012 8:54 PM

We are the only team in the league to not realize how good spiller is..:: even pats fans who usually trash us (rightfully so) do nothing but compliment him… Time to get chip Kelly to coach them. He knows how to use a stud game breaking rb

If there was a deal to be made at the deadline, for any team, it was the Bills. Plenty of teams needed running back help, and the Bills needed to clear the way for CJ Spiller. Even if they only netted a 5th rounder it was a deal they should make.

I don’t agree that FJax’s injury is a blessing in disguise. It won’t work. He’s had that chance this year already, and the entire end of last season. He played really well both times and still only gets 50-50 splits.

I don’t think that “blessing in disguise” line of thought is at all diminishing the serious nature of concussions. I’m not going to assume that thinking of people I don’t know. They’re simply saying that Spiller will get more time to show he deserves to be the “bell cow” in Buffalo.

Get ready for too much Tashard Choice. Gailey is the worst coach since Richie Kotite. His best player is Spiller who clearly is a FAR superior player to Jackson. Yet doesn’t get him the majority of touches.

  17. richc111 says: Nov 11, 2012 9:57 PM

Gailey did exactly what he said he was going to do with Spiller this week and get him more carries. Last week he got 6 this week he got 9!

It is nice to see the regular ref’s back ain’t it. I was getting tired of every team getting bad calls. Now only that bad teams get calls against them, just like it always been!

  18. bagjr387 says: Nov 11, 2012 10:38 PM

C.J. spiller yards per carry: 7.3(1st in NFL)
Adrain peterson yards per carry 5.8(2nd in NFL)

the gap between 1st and 2nd should be all the info the coach needs…CJ should touch the ball a minimum of 25 times per game…its a waste of talent not to.

nothing against Freddie, because everyone loves him, BUT, keeping the most electrifying player in the NFL off of the field is like a gift for the other team

The Bills need to lose Chan and bring in an offensive coordinator who doesn’t try to outsmart everyone. They’re built to run the ball, not play five wide, shootout football. I’ve been screaming for this all year. Chan likes these cute plays where he puts Fitz in bad positions, the pick he threw today would be a good example. Just run the damn ball… The Bills would be a completely different team with an offensive philosophy like the Texans… C.J. An Fred have been misused all season, it’s pathetic…

  21. v1kingfan says: Nov 11, 2012 11:57 PM

Bills deserve better. CJ could have won them that game.

That was a crazy hit on Jackson. I hope he’s doing ok.

Some guys bashing Spikes here, did you even see the play?

Spikes hit with his shoulder. His helmet didn’t even touch Jackson.

Hard hit? Yes, but absolutely legal.

  23. blackbug99 says: Nov 12, 2012 12:47 AM

Mike, the Bills will play on…..and where is the outrage over the officiating? Had the replacement officials done this game you’d have been all over it. But, noooooo, these guys have a union…….2 uncatchable balls and fouls in the endzone? The Pats got by the Bills today. But I bet it was a different score than anyone imagined……
