Julio Jones goes down, Chris Ivory steps up, but Falcons still lead

The Falcons may need to keep throwing to offensive linemen, because one of their starting receivers has gone down today in New Orleans.

Atlanta receiver Julio Jones limped off the field with what the team described as a leg injury, and is questionable to return. Jones was walking without assistance, but he was moving gingerly and appeared to be in pain.

Jones’s injury came during a stretch in which nothing was going right for the Falcons, as Chris Ivory scored on a sensational 56-yard touchdown run, one of the plays of the year in the NFL so far this season. Ivory showed off impressive speed and a powerful stiff arm on his way to the end zone.

The Saints also got a 29-yard touchdown pass from Drew Brees to Jimmy Graham, making it the 52nd consecutive game in which Brees has thrown a touchdown pass. At that point the Saints had a 14-10 lead.

But the Falcons recovered nicely, with a long drive that culminated in Matt Ryan hitting Tony Gonzalez in the end zone for a touchdown to make the score 17-14 Falcons.
