Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was taken to the locker room early in the third quarter of Monday night’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Chiefs’ defenders Justin Houston and Tamba Hali sandwiched Roethlisberger on a third down play early in the quarter and he was taken to the locker room shortly after. The Steelers announced that Roethlisberger was being evaluated for a right shoulder injury and was questionable to return to the game.

Byron Leftwich replaced Roethlisberger under center on the next Pittsburgh drive. Roethlisberger was 9 of 18 for 84 yards and a touchdown pass before leaving the game.

UPDATE 10:40 p.m. ET: ESPN’s telecast showed Roethlisberger out of his shoulder pads being taken by cart further up the tunnel.

UPDATE 11:19 p.m. ET: Jason La Canfora of CBSSports.com reported that Roethlisberger has left the stadium and is being taken to a hospital to have an MRI performed on his injured shoulder.

So what you’re saying is Houston and Hali made a Roethlisburger???

  3. samoanjungle says: Nov 12, 2012 10:39 PM

Oh he is alright. He will crawl around in the huddle then throw a 60 yard bomb.

  4. moagecu says: Nov 12, 2012 10:41 PM

Biggest drama king in the nfl. Or is he scared because a certain number 55 will be in town next week

  7. 11wheatd says: Nov 12, 2012 10:43 PM

Now we get to see Roethlisberger come back after milking this injury and see him throw a TD against a horrible defense and then he’ll get praised for being so tough and clutch. It happens over and over again.

  8. daaabears says: Nov 12, 2012 10:44 PM

I was actually rooting for KC until that ignorant celebration by the whole defense, when they know it’s going to result in a penalty.

  14. dbarnes79 says: Nov 12, 2012 10:51 PM

Way to protect him with that crap dink and dunk offense Haley.

  15. tbtrojan says: Nov 12, 2012 10:51 PM

    How is this possible?
We had it shoved down our throats that when the “official” officials returned they would prevent injurys and that the replacements were putting players health at risk.

  16. sizzleownsbigben says: Nov 12, 2012 10:52 PM

    No excuses next week

  17. hrdcorbengalsfan says: Nov 12, 2012 10:53 PM

  19. barbasol11111111 says: Nov 12, 2012 10:55 PM

    These refs are awful

  20. whodeytn says: Nov 12, 2012 10:56 PM

I never want to hear a Steeler fan complain about refs again. This officiating is just ridiculous.

Chiefs make a play??? Simple: throw a flag !!

    Refs……lol…..

  23. psdaleno says: Nov 12, 2012 10:58 PM

If the chiefs spent less time on practicing their touchdown celebrations, the might be better than 1-7.

  24. randymarsh76 says: Nov 12, 2012 11:03 PM

He’s fine… Just needed a lift to Golden Corral to refuel for the 4th qtr.

  25. bensstinkyfingers says: Nov 12, 2012 11:04 PM

He’s going into labor 2 weeks early, good luck ben hope your labor is quick and easy, and the kid has mom’s looks.

  26. buckeye044 says: Nov 12, 2012 11:05 PM

    Broken collar bone.
Steelers won’t be able to overcome this one.

  27. skinsrock says: Nov 12, 2012 11:06 PM

Refs are on the take… Bowe had a TD.

  28. doe22us says: Nov 12, 2012 11:10 PM

Whisked to the hospital not good if thats the case. I hate it when top players go down with an injury, but thats how this game goes.

  29. yojoemama says: Nov 12, 2012 11:11 PM

This is the only way the Ravens can beat the Steelers.

  30. thesportsguy52 says: Nov 12, 2012 11:12 PM

I hope he plays against the Ravens next week so I don’t have to continuously hear “you Ratbirds only beat us cuz Ben was out!” I want zero excuses available. Also I just hope the guy is ok. Hell of a competitor.

  31. steelersfanfromtheseventies says: Nov 12, 2012 11:13 PM

If this turns out to be serious this team is in deep trouble.

  32. lilpuppy says: Nov 12, 2012 11:13 PM

had a small lead going into tonights game and no players..opponent had Ben…we tied lol

  33. rooneyruleblues says: Nov 12, 2012 11:13 PM

Oh he is alright. He will head back to the hotel tonight, and rape the girl that brings him room service.

  34. nelly837 says: Nov 12, 2012 11:16 PM

Chiefs defense are playing their asses off. Too bad Cassel sucks so bad they might have a chance if they had ANYBODY else under center.

  35. choppa2lis says: Nov 12, 2012 11:20 PM

the refs gave the game to pittsburgh regardless, couldve benched him at halftime, the refs wont allow the steelers to lose

  36. cablelayer says: Nov 12, 2012 11:22 PM

Are the doctors going to treat him inside a bathroom stall?

  37. tjacks7 says: Nov 12, 2012 11:23 PM

How is Leftwich still in the NFL? My eyes literally hurt watching him play. I thought Tebow had an elongated release but it’s nothing compared o Leftwich.

  38. canetic says: Nov 12, 2012 11:23 PM

Don’t most players hang out and watch the rest of the game with their team instead of rushing to the hospital for an MRI? It’s not a life threatening injury.

  39. cereal blogger says: Nov 12, 2012 11:24 PM

Check out all the empty yellow seats in the Burgh,,,just another week

  40. Mr. Wright 212 says: Nov 12, 2012 11:25 PM

Steeler fans better NOT come here bragging after the officials handed them this game.

  41. ilovefoolsball says: Nov 12, 2012 11:28 PM

He’s going see the nurse, whether she likes it or not.
That should get him back all well and good.

  42. csszrr says: Nov 12, 2012 11:34 PM

As long as the cameras are on he will cringe and play it up. But this is pigstown so they could have told him to fake it.

  43. clevelandschronic2 says: Nov 12, 2012 11:43 PM

Hes faking it jus like antonio brown did a couple Weeks ago!!

  44. tigerlilac says: Nov 12, 2012 11:46 PM

Can someone please tell Gruden the ball was tipped on the overtime interception.

  45. foreverrebuilding says: Nov 12, 2012 11:49 PM

I wonder if anybody was sexually assaulted in the locker room while he was there.

  46. swagger52 says: Nov 12, 2012 11:51 PM

No problem..They don’t need Roethlistberger, when they have the REFs on the take.

I wish we had the replacement REFs at least they don’t throw a game – like this one.

  47. choppa2lis says: Nov 12, 2012 11:51 PM

refs give the steelers yet another win, what else is new. these refs are worse than the replacement refs by far

  48. ratbirdking says: Nov 12, 2012 11:53 PM

hate to say it, but we have no pash rush in baltimore, so he could play in a sling and be fine.

  49. edgarpoe2 says: Nov 12, 2012 11:53 PM

Being that he is playing Baltimore next week, the drama queen has not disappointed his fans. He will be hobbling and suddenly, like Superman, will come through as if he was never hurt. Trent Dilfer now is setting everything up, saying he will be out for at least a few weeks. Look for Roethlisberger to come back next week as the HERO. Look for your local listings for time and channels.

  50. dirtdawg54 says: Nov 12, 2012 11:57 PM

They should have taken the refs to the locker room. They were the only thing more putrid than that KC offense.

  51. ravenmuscle says: Nov 13, 2012 12:03 AM

Where is that “I own you clown?”

    A torn rotator cuff…bwaahaahaahaahaahaa.

Leftwich will be dead meat when the Ravens finish with him and his Loooooonnnnnng delivery.

  52. jtm12180 says: Nov 13, 2012 12:04 AM

Yeah, I’m sure the “genius” could just run through brick walls with his toughness.

More like “cue all the gasbag haters”

  53. packmanfan says: Nov 13, 2012 12:09 AM

They said Ben’s wife is expecting a baby.
    Gee.
I wonder if the conception was done with consent.

  54. jbaxt says: Nov 13, 2012 12:09 AM

I’d take half the night off too if I was playing the Chiefs. Crennel is 0-9 against Pittsburgh? I know he was fired at Cleveland, does Pioli look at any credentials for his hiring process? Say, maybe a win loss record?

Pioli was clearly afraid of Haley, all GM’s make mistakes, it’s just Pioli’s too d@mn stubborn to acknowledge Cassel is simply a huge bust, hence the no college starts, late round draft pick, and his inability to win.

  55. wolfmanpatriot says: Nov 13, 2012 12:19 AM

Not my favorite team either, but it sounds that he is in too much pain to travel if he needs an MRI now instead of tomorrow.

  56. silverback9999 says: Nov 13, 2012 12:20 AM

Just read that Ben’s agent says its a “non-traditional unique shoulder” injury. That sounds bad to me. What a disaster. Thought we had a real shot this year. Lookin like there’s no way we’ll have Ben for either Ravens game. No way we beat them without him. Looks like an uphill struggle just to get a wild card. Ugh. Depressing.

  57. comatrip1 says: Nov 13, 2012 1:29 AM

Once he got into the MRI room and no ESPN cameras were present, he was magically healed. Superman has Kryptonite. Rothlesberger has cameras.
