Richie Incognito again accused of playing dirty, admits he was dumb

Last week, Dolphins guard Richie Incognito was voted the second-dirtiest player in the NFL by his peers, which he called a “badge of honor.” But after a dirty play got him penalized and benched on Sunday, Incognito admitted he had done something dumb.

Incognito picked up a 15-yard unnecessary roughness penalty for shoving Titans linebacker Colin McCarthy’s face into the turf, and McCarthy became the latest player to label Incognito dirty.

That was kind of dirty,” McCarthy said, via the Sun-Sentinel. “Obviously he got flagged for it, which was nice to see. I don’t know what his intentions were, but that’s on him.”

McCarthy said he told Incognito he didn’t appreciate it.

“I just said it was dirty,” McCarthy said. “We’re trying to play football. Obviously, it was a stupid play. They had a first down on the play and that forced them into first and 25. It was a big play in the game, and we’ll take it.”

Incognito agreed with the “stupid” characterization.

“It was a dumb penalty,” Incognito said. “It definitely hurt the team. It pushed us out of points. It was a mistake on my part.”

Dolphins coach Joe Philbin benched Incognito for that mistake. And sitting on the bench is not a badge of honor.

That was dumb, you have to do a quick scan and make sure the officials aren’t watching first.

THEN you shove his face into the dirt.

    Dumb.

    I’m surprised they noticed him.

I believe a lot of Rams fans know this common behavior very well with Icognito.

I’d argue that this was more “chippy” (a late shove hoping the referees weren’t looking) than “dirty” (trying to hurt someone), but Incognito was right that it was a dumb penalty that hurt the team.

Richie is bag of air… he needs to start playing better… or Coach Philbin will send his stupid butt packing. Richie, enough already… be a man, beat your man… don’t beat your own team.

And he’ll probably just keep doing it anyway…

    Incognito dirty? Wow, I’m shocked.

The day my Rams got rid of that chump was second only to the day they cut Marc Bulger.

Ron Artest of the NFL, no place for play like his in the NFL, he’s a loser.

Let’s give some congrats to the coach though for having the moral standards to bench him. It’s good to see a coach who has some values.

It’s too bad Belicheck didn’t have the same morals.. Mayo, Spinks and Dennard would have been on the bench yesterday against the Bill’s for their unnecessary cheap shots against jackson and Fitz.

First Reggie Bush rushed to say “My bad”, now Incognito – looks like Philbin made his point with them. Let’s see if they remember it next game.

Starting to get tired of Incognito drawing these stupid personal fouls. He is just hurting the team, might be time to replace him at the end of the season.

This guy is a bum get ride of him Philbin. I played HS football with a guy like him and no matter what you do to change the way he played he would just do the same stupid stuff. He will never learn and hurt any team stupid enough to sign him. Too bad too bc he’s a pretty good run blocker, mean and nasty, just stupid too.

Richie Incognito sucks…….. He’s embarrassed when he gets beat like a drum which is often and feels the need to get even with that player that did it with a dirty hit cuz he sucks.
