It shold be mandatory that you can’t pull out the “we beat ourselves” card if you never have the lead at any point in the 2nd half.

Appeared to me that the Saints wanted this game more. Falcons are the better team but the Saints came out and played with a lot of effort and purpose. Don’t really see how Falcons beat themself. The Falcons turn the ball over less than anyone.

I was wondering where all the Saints fans were hiding. Typical Roddy Saints own us now but like life cycles come and cycles go. the next 5 years might be flipped who knows but right now the Saints do own us but change is inevitable. Man it’s gonna be fun to see a Brees-less Saints team one day. That man is something else.

Wow. I remember the Saints saying the EXACT same thing last time they lost to the Falcons! I guess that was ok then. Saints fans are just envious that the Falcons are having such a strong year while they are struggling. Things cycle. Get over it. That’s football.

Saints are 7-1 in last eight vs. Falcons and the one win they got was after Hartley missed a very makeable FG in OT. Saints are 11-2 in last 13 vs. Falcons.

That said, as a Saints fan, almost all of these games have been decided by one or two crucial plays. But the Saints almost always seem to make them and the Falcons don’t. Until they do, they’re still pretenders in the NFC, not contenders.

Still, one of the best under-rated rivalries in football.

The fact of the matter is that you are supposed to be a pro whether you win or lose. He claim ATL got no respect when they won and he turned right around and did that to NO. He is a hypocrite. Take the loss and move on…..the one where “statistically the worst defense ever” stopped you cold when it mattered most.

Mi dislike of Roddy White stems from whem my Ravens visited in ’10. Flacco had just led the team down the field for a 21-20 lead when White blatantly shoved CB Josh Wilson to the turf after the ball was in the air (aka a blatant offensive pass interference) and sauntered into the endzone for the game winner with his arms spread wide as if to say “yeah that’s right, I’m that good that no one can come close to covering me.” I’ve had little respect for the man since. A great receiver on the field, but apparently a mental midget everywhere else.

The window in Atlanta closes after this season – especially if Gonzalez follows through with retiring. Their offense revolves around the TE. I still can’t figure out why most teams can’t stop Ryan when he STARES down his TE so often.

Say it however you want, but the Falcons had plenty of opportunities to win that game… Int to the 14 that ended with 3, 2nd and goal from the 1 that ended in 3 and another 2nd and goal from the 1 that ended with nothing… That’s 3 trips to the redzone that ended in 6 points – nowhere near good enough to beat a team that is nowhere near as bad as their record. I love my Falcons, but missed opportunities, porous run defense and the inability to get a yard 6 or 7 times in a football game doomed them today, and may doom them again come January. They held on to Turner one year too long, as I’m fairly confident that any dude off the street could gain 15 yds on 13 carries in a game. Falcons are at a bit of a crossroads here, they survived some games that they maybe shouldn’t have survived, but have to capitalize on this nice lead they built in the division and their “holes” (run O and D) finally cost them a game. It needs to be cleaned up in a hurry if they are to stand any chance come January… I don’t know if they have an answer on the rush O (Quizz is deadly out of the backfield, but hasn’t been much better than Turner carrying the ball – at least he breaks tackles and gives you a chance, Snelling hasn’t had many opportunities, and Antoine Smith actually got some PT, but no carries?) the run d will be better when Spoon comes back (Dent is pretty bad). I can’t take another one and done, so I pray they can figure some of this out!

Discrediting an opponent like White did is lame.

At least White is right about the Falcons making at least one excusable mistake: why on earth did White inexplicably go into a backpedal on that late game fly/go route down the sideline? He beat his man — all he had to do was stay in stride for six. The ball would have been right there. Talk about badly misjudging a ball.

But no question, playing the “we beat ourselves” card is both weak and disrespectful.

Roddy White is dumb.

It’s one thing to run your mouth before a game once or twice. It’s another thing to always trash talk before every game to the media and then downplay your opponent after they beat you…to the media.

Dude does it every time, again and again.

I thought Victor Cruz was reaching pretty low with pulling the “I won a SB card” when White tried to downplay his talent because he is a slot receiver. Now I realize it’s the only way to respond to such idiocy.
