The Buccaneers have announced that linebacker Quincy Black will be placed on injured reserve after his neck injury Sunday.

While the injury wasn’t as bad as it appeared when he went down from a helmet-to-helmet collision with Chargers running back Ryan Mathews, it obviously wasn’t going to be a quick comeback.

Black was hospitalized, but there was no spinal cord injury. He’s still having problems with his left arm.

Such injuries are tough for Bucs coach Greg Schiano to go through after what he experienced at Rutgers with Eric LeGrand, but the news appears to be much better for Black.
