I respect what Jared Allen was able to do and like his attitude that next year will be better. The Wounded Warrior foundation is an organization that is trying to help not only our soldiers with their physical injuries but also the mental ones. Having met a lot of veterans through out the years as my father has been active in several of the veterans groups (American Legion, VFW and AmVets) I have seen some of the tolls wars can take. I am always thankful for those that have served, are serving and will serve. I am eternally grateful for those that were injured or lost their lives fighting for our country.

Soldiers, other than the people that they’re shooting at, are the most abused group of people in the world. Let’s stop abusing our own people; let’s stop lying to our teenagers at recruiting centers about “fighting for our freedom”. Our government controls our freedom, and that’s only because we allow them to. Our perpetual wars are about territorial conquest to make the wealthy few even wealthier, nothing else.

Amen to that, brewdogg…I have always respected Jared Allen, although as a Bears fan I never realized ’til now just how much he does off the field…Kudos to him, and a heartfelt thank-you to all of you ‘grunts’ on here (and all who serve) for your heroism and sacrifice.

You guys are both right. The gov’t should be more focused on taking care of our vets and less concerned about making more, and those of us who didn’t serve should be doing what we can to show our thanks to those who did. But let’s not make this a debate on foreign or domestic policy. Let’s keep this about someone who is using their individual fame to help those who have earned our respect and thanks for what they have done for all of us.

Props to Allen, and much bigger props to all our veterans. Thank you all for going through hell so that we can safely sit here at our computers and argue about which football team is better. You deserve more than we can ever give back to you.

Our government owes them this, at least, because they have continually lied to our troops. Our government tells them they are “fighting for our freedom” while our government restricts our freedoms.

Bring them home now so that they can truly fight for our freedom without having to carry a weapon. They’ll be plenty of money available once we stop spending over half of our tax dollars on wars with the rest of the world.

As a Navy veteran and one who has served overseas in Kuwait, I want to thank Jared Allen for all he has done for my brothers and sisters of all forces. All gave some, some gave more than most (wounded warriors), and some gave all. It is important that we do all we can for veterans, but most importantly the wounded warriors because what they sacrificed for us is deserving of that respect plus some.

I agree the government should do more for our veterans, but it’s our responsibility to take care of people who need help. I wish more people would give to and work for charities rather than looking to the government to do everything.

As a Packer fan, I hate this guy whenever he plays us, but that’s about the only knock one can say about the dude. Anyone would love for him to be on their team. On the field, he’s lights out (without the steroids)… And off the field he seems to be a very like able guy. As a retired “grunt”, can’t help but believe he would have made a great battle buddy. Who am I kidding, he would have likely went spec. Ops, and we would have never seen or heard from him.

Because of Jared’s commitment to the Wounded Warrior project, at the game on Sunday he was the last player introduced and he ran onto the field carrying the American flag…

The already loud crowd got much louder when he ran onto the field!
