Panthers to sign former Panther Jeremy Bridges

In the middle of a wave of offensive line problems, the Panthers are apparently turning to a guy they’re familiar with.

Jeremy Bridges, who was waived off injured reserve by the Cardinals recently, will be signed by the Panthers, according to Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun.

Bridges played for the Panthers from 2006-08, starting 28 games for them during that span.

Frankly, they could use two of him, one to start at right guard and one at right tackle, as injuries and inexperience have made a mess of what was once a good line.

Bridges suffered torn thumb ligaments in the preseason, but it wasn’t the kind of thing to keep him out all year.

Bridges was also a colorful character, and during his time with the team, he was involved in one of the more bizarre off-field arrests ever. He was charged with assault for waving a gun at a stripper during a parking lot fight, and one of the witnesses in the case was the cross-dressing uncle of said stripper, who showed up in court wearing an evening dress and gold high heels. (He’s the one over the left shoulder of the handsome reporter in the cool sunglasses.)
