Julio Jones, Sean Weatherspoon miss practice for Falcons

The Falcons are coming off a loss for the first time this season and they started their practice week without a couple of key players on the field.

Wide receiver Julio Jones and linebacker Sean Weatherspoon both skipped practice on Wednesday while recovering from injuries. Jones hurt his ankle during the 31-27 loss to the Saints, but returned to the game in the second half of the season. Coach Mike Smith said that Jones would be evaluated on Thursday after staying off the ankle as much as possible on Wednesday.

Weatherspoon has missed the last two games with his own ankle injury and was able to do some running on Wednesday. Smith said the team will be watching to see how he responds to that before deciding on his workload for the rest of the week.

“He moved around. We’ll ramp that up (Thursday) and see how he feels in the morning,” Smith said, via the team’s website. “Then, we’ll determine what his workload will be for (Thursday).”

As of now, Jones would probably be considered more likely to be in the lineup against the Cardinals this Sunday.

Did not realize hurt feelings and bitterness from the Saints loss, not winning a SB or a playoff game in 3 years would keep you out of practice…hmmm…

We need Spoon back. Having Mike Peterson on the field gives me indigestion.

This injury to spoon seems to be much worse than the team led everyone to believe. As much as we need spoon out there I hope they take time to let him completely heal up so he doesn’t re-injure and miss the playoffs. Yes I said playoff”S”

Bitterness is having a tainted superbowl and the disgrace of having the only coach suspended for a year. Hurt feelings is having a the HC refuse to live in the vile city that his team resides in before his suspension kicked in.
