It used to be about recognizing the best players. Now it is a popularity contest and marketing . The NFL site even leans that way. The “ballot” directions state “Select the players you want to watch in the 2013 Pro Bowl”. The pro bowl is used as contractual triggers by the players. Many do not even want to play so they make up an excuse. That leaves subpar players getting the “honors” as well as their undeserved contract triggers.

As soon as the trade with the Jets happened, this Denver fan was stoked. Even if the Manning experiment didn’t work, the Tebow debacle was gone.
As a disclaimer, I think TT is an awesome person & a great football player. He just sucks as a QB.

Manning is no surprise, he is all over your TV from pizza ads to tapenade. He is a marketing giant and ProBowl fan voting is all about names and faces they recognize. Brady has to do better than some stupid cameo in a Dodge Dart commercial.

As much run as JJ Watt has gotten, I’m surprised he is not on that list.
