APThe Colts have gotten into the habit of ruling out cornerback Vontae Davis and tight end Coby Fleener early in the week and it isn’t a habit they’re ready to break just yet.
Coach Bruce Arians said Wednesday that both players will miss this week’s game against the Patriots. According to Mike Chappell of the Indianapolis Star, both players have a chance to be ready to play in Week 12 but they are still trying to recover from the injuries that forced them out in the first place.
Davis has been hampered by a knee injury that’s kept him out for the last two weeks. It’s the second injury that’s forced him out so far this season, he missed two games with a foot injury earlier in the year, and he’s played just twice since Week Three. With Jerraud Powers hitting injured reserve earlier this week, the Colts will likely start Darius Butler and Cassius Vaughn at the corners against New England.
Fleener has also missed the last two games thanks to a shoulder injury he suffered in Week Eight against the Titans. The second-round pick is fifth on the team with 21 catches this season and fellow rookie Dwayne Allen will continue to see more time with Fleener out of the lineup.
