That’s the formula – its not at the whim of the schedule makers.

Regardless, Freeney is always interesting and gets a ton of respect from Patriots coaches, players and fans alike, who all appreciate a hard nosed football player even when he’s on another team.

Unit 2002 Colts were in the AFC East, part of the agreement or decision made after NFL’s expansion to 32 teams was to allow teams formerly in the same division to continue to play each other. I believe it was something to do with keeping old traditions/rivalries alive.
