Texans assistant Bill Kollar back on the job after blood clots

On Sunday, some shortness of breath signaled a bigger problem for Texans defensive line coach Bill Kollar, as he was taken to the hospital with blood clots in his lungs and calves.

By Thursday, he was back on the job.

We had a great win and I’m alive,” Kollar said, via Tania Ganguli of the Houston Chronicle. “So I’m pretty happy about that.”

Kollar said he’d dealt with a similar problem in the past, so when he grew short of breath, he knew what was happening. He had recently had knee surgery and was on blood thinners, but they apparently didn’t work well enough.

He said he tried to watch the Texans win over the Bears from the emergency room, but couldn’t find a television, and since he couldn’t fly because of the clots, returned to Houston Wednesday.

    Here’s hoping he recovers fully.
