That hit was intent to injure. I’m glad he got fined but it wasn’t enough. There should have been a suspension as well.

Brinkley’s hit didn’t appear to be intentional. In fact it wasn’t much of a hit at all. The ref saw it as a penalty just like they saw the lions hit on Ponder as a penalty. I thought they were wrong on both calls but at game speed they made a decision to throw the flag. But watching the replay of each hit makes it hard to believe they should have fined Brinkley and thankfully they didn’t fine the Lions DL who barely touched Ponder.

In the first Lions game Greenway deserved the flag and the penalty. Brinkley doesn’t. Lions fans should be adult enough to admit the truth instead of whining.

As for Lions DB Houston and his belief that the OG landed on his ankles… His statement that he intentionally cut the legs out from under the OG speaks for itself. Don’t take the legs out from under the guy who might fall on you… Avoid the big slow lineman and make a play instead of whining about cutting him and having him fall on you!!! Come on man as they say.

Lame call and fine. I know its not my money. But if that was called by replacement ref, it would have been on the front page of the newspaper.

I think it was close. Winfield may have turned late to make it look worse than it was. More of a “didnt need to block low” call which i can always live. WR will some day learn how to block legally. They hold on EVERY block.

The Brinkley hit deserved this fine, but Greenway didn’t deserve as large of a fine earlier this year. Chad left the ground before the whistle thinking that Johnson would catch it because he really doesn’t drop passes. Greenway knew that the flag was coming as evidenced in his immediate reaction and deserved a fine much lower than what he received.

And some say the Lions are a dirty team? Because of the report that Calvin was concussed, the Vikings obviously were trying to make contact with his head. Rabid Vikings fans will say it was hard play. Everybody who watched the game knows it was dirty play.

2 fines against the Lions……and 2 wins. Coincidence? Good to see the Vikings playing some nasty (call it dirty if you want) defense. Most great defenses play with this sort of style, Pitt, Baltimore in years past. The coaching staff should be proud.

Wow I can’t believe some Vikings fans have the audacity to blame this on CJ. Unreal. Brinkley lowered his head and hit CJ coming from behind. Watch the play. Just like Greenway launched himself and left the ground to hit CJ in the head. Deny all you want but the refs, league office, any objective observer and probably even you know that you are wrong at best and disingenuous at worst.
