Chicago Bears defensive tackle Matt Toeaina joins quarterback Jay Cutler and defensive end Shea McClellin as players officially ruled out for Monday night’s game against the San Francisco 49ers.

Toeaina was ruled out on Saturday after being unable to practice this week due to a lingering calf injury. Toeaina has appeared in just two games for the Bears this season and recorded just three tackles.

A positive for the Bears will be the return of wide receiver Alshon Jeffrey. Jeffrey has missed the last four games for Chicago after suffering a fractured right hand against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 5. Jeffrey was limited in practice on Thursday before fully participating each of the last two days.

Before the injury, Jeffrey had compiled 14 catches for 184 yards and two touchdowns for the Bears in five games played.

Jason Campbell is expected to start for the Bears in place of Culter with Josh McCown getting backup duties.

  1. Glad to see Jeffrey back, hope Campbell can mix in a few deep balls to him and Marshall in between a heavy dose of Matt Forte.

  2. Thank God the Bears’ only real competition is a Packers team that lost to the Colts and struggled against the Jaguars!!! This game may turn out to be a loss, but when you have choke artists like the Pack in second, fans can breathe a bit easier.

  3. Cutler or no Cutler this game has to be played. Like it or not packers fans ..the Bears will come to win this game so DONT just count the Bears out … they have been known to win games with a kicking team and a defense.

The Bears will get crushed again this week because they’re playing a good team. This team is a pretender that benefited from an early cream puff schedule.

I must have missed the game they got crushed.

  5. It’s the same ever year, filthy. The Bears come out of the gate strong, their fans puff up their little chests and talk a bunch of nonsense, and then the wheels come off. Then the crying and excuses start. Bears will finish 10 – 6.
