Lawyer Harvey Steinberg apparently is confident that the league won’t impose a suspension on Raiders linebacker Rolando McClain after charges of firing a gun near a man’s ear were dropped in Alabama.
Steinberg perhaps shouldn’t be.
The situation will be reviewed under the personal conduct policy despite the exoneration, according to NFL spokesman Greg Aiello.
The fact that McClain was tried and convicted earlier this year doesn’t help McClain’s case with the NFL, given that the trial creates a record of evidence on which the league easily could rely when deciding what to do with McClain.
And the fact that guys like Ben Roethlisberger have been suspended without even an arrest means that McClain could still be in trouble with the folks at 345 Park Avenue.
