Redskins raise their lead thanks to another Eagles turnover

The Eagles were content to play it safe and head into halftime trailing the Redskins 14-3.

A couple of handoffs to LeSean McCoy would be all it took to end the half, or so they thought. McCoy fumbled after a hit by Barry Cofield and Ryan Kerrigan recovered to give the Eagles their third turnover of the first half. That led to a 25-yard Kai Forbath field goal as time expired in the second quarter and a 17-3 lead for the Redskins.

It would have been a 30-yard try, but the Eagles had 12 men in their defensive huddle to make it easier. That was one of their six penalties in the first half, including two offensive holding and two false starts on the beleaguered offensive line. Ladies and gentlemen, your 2012 Eagles.

The Redskins converted the first of two Nick Foles interceptions into a touchdown in the first quarter and extended the lead with a well-executed 49-yard touchdown pass to Aldrick Robinson. It came after a fake end-around and was one of the few times the Redskins have gone deep on Sunday. The short stuff’s working, Robert Griffin III is 8-of-9 for 99 yards overall, and the Eagles keep giving them chances to cash in on short fields.

That’s a formula for winning. We’ll see if the Eagles have it in them to change things up in the second half.

  1. The Eagles are an abomination of a football team. I don’t see how Andy Reid lasts this season at this point.

This team has been a disaster since Joe Webb and the Vikings walked into the Linc and pounded the Eagles.

  2. Shanahan the GM should’ve been fired already. Two New WR’s, cut Cooley for the next Shannon Sharpe(Niles Paul) who can’t catch a cold OR BLOCK! But Santana Moss bails them out every week.

We have 2 great DE’s made to play outside LB(Kerrigan & Orakpo), no other LB who can cover a tight end other than 39 yr old Fletcher. D Everybody’s training camp cuts in the secondary.

And the worst play calling and coaching staff! Mind you! I’ve watched Norval Turner, Steven Spurrier, & Jim Zorn!

This and we are winning 24-6! If it was another team but the Igles, we’d be tied or losing.

Thank God for RGIII! We could still have Rex Grossman! We’d be winless!!!!!!
