Kiffin didn’t get Gruden fired. Gruden talks out of both sides of his mouth. Just like Billick, Gruden is touted as this “offensive guru”, but their offenses did nothing.

Pretty sure Gus Bradley learned a lot from Monte Kiffen. I believe he was an assistant to the guy while they were in Tampa.

Must be great when your friends can get you “consulting” jobs for doing absolutely nothing, which would be the case if this went down as Seattle already has a quite capable DC in place who’s built a pretty good defense. Probably the same kind of joke gig that Butch Davis has in Tampa for doing nothing.

Furthermore, Kiffin’s “genius” label is pretty laughable since his ascension coincides with him working for Tony Dungy and basically keeping the system Dungy put into place playing at a high level. I don’t recall anyone beating down his door before that to run their defense.

That hardly constitutes being an architect or deserves accolades of being called a “genius” since staying an assistant under a different coach and continuing to do what you did before he got there with mostly the same cast of characters is hardly being innovative.

IIRC Chucky, as celebrity/coach, was peeved that Kiffin and his defense got a lot of the public credit that Chucky felt should go to Him and Him Alone.

The cover-2 had been exposed long before the spread offenses blew it out of the water. Monte’s star has faded and his son Lame is a joke, a bad joke.

Monte’s Def was the main reason Jon Gruden got Fired in Tampa Bay SO before i think Monte is better than his last yr I’d ask him to prove it

Given the performance of Seattle’s defense this season and his youth, Gus Bradley could likely become a hot commodity for a head coaching job, so there could be a DC hole to fill next season…
