A young quarterback making his first NFL start is taking on the NFL’s best defense on Monday Night Football. Obviously, it’s a mismatch.

And by that I mean the Bears’ defense is no match for 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick.

Kaepernick got off to a brilliant start on Monday night against the Bears, showing a strong arm, the patience to read through his progression, and perfect touch on his passes.

Kaepernick completed seven of his first eight passes, for 114 yards, as the 49ers jumped out to a 10-0 lead. Kaepernick’s 57-yard pass to Kyle Williams was an absolutely beautiful deep ball -- one of the finest passes you’ll ever see from any quarterback, let alone a quarterback who has never started an NFL game before.

There’s still a lot of football left to be played, but in the early going Kaepernick is absolutely shredding the Bears’ defense. Chicago better answer in a hurry.

UPDATE 9:21 p.m. ET: The 49ers stretched the lead to 17-0 early in the second quarter.
