How many players this yr or in the last ten yrs have broken their arms blocking on the PAT? There is your answer....He could have broken it making an important or insignificant diving catch or doing something stupid at a club partying. As long as it occurred when he was doing his job... it is unfortunate , but part of the game and you can't blame Belichick for not being god and knowing this would occur.

People forget quickly. The Patriots have had a lot of fourth quarter blunders this year. In fact, their 3 losses have come by a combined 4 points. That means this team could be easily undefeated. This was Bill Belichick doing his job – coaching. What he was doing was teaching his team how to finish a game (which they did with unbelievable style last week). He isn’t out there to embarrass the other team. He is out there to teach his own team. To call this Kama is downright insulting.

The day the Patriots start playing scared is the day they start losing. There have already been a number of cogent reasons why this is a non-issue so I'll leave it as that.

Borges is a known plagiarist who has always had an ax to grind against Belichick. This is nothing new from the Boston Sports Media's biggest pukemerchant. (Actually, Felger holds that title.) It's amazing that people can make money in the BSM doing nothing but second-guessing a Hall Of Famer and constantly predicting doom and gloom for the Patriots.

If you wonder why Belichick seems so surly at every press conference, it might be because he's constantly surrounded by talently vultures like Borges who can't wait to lick up some scrap of fetid tissue to feel important for at least one more news cycle.

Uh huh. Yeah, the Giants really want Bill Belichick over Tom Coughlin. Riiiiiiiight. Because post-SpyGate, Belichick has won HOW many titles?

"If whoever the Patriots put on the extra point team in Gronkowski’s absence over the next few weeks misses a block, and the Patriots have an extra point blocked because of it, then perhaps Belichick would be vindicated."

Yeah. 58 points instead of 59. What a disaster. (rolling eyes)

I understand people's point about the score, but you wanna take every oppurtunity in every game to try and get better. You don't get better by taking starters out of the game. You want your team to be able to play 60 minutes of good football every game. I support BB all the way, Gronk will come back strong.

“On a day when they could have had impact players David Terrell or Koren Robinson or the second best tackle in the draft Kenyatta Walker, they took Georgia defensive tackle Richard Seymour who had 1 1/2 sacks last year in the pass-happy SEC, and is too tall to play tackle at 6-6 and too slow to play defensive end. This genius move was followed by trading out of a spot where they could have gotten the last decent receiver in the draft Robert Ferguson and settled for tackle Matt Light, who will not help any time soon.”

Right...because the two things are clearly tied together.

The only time players get injured is when you anger the "football gods."

Maybe Belichick forgot to sacrifice a chicken before the game?

Another thing. This is professional football not 5 year old girls playing hopscotch. There is no such thing as running up a score.

What do you want the Pats to do, politely walk up to Andrew Luck and hand him the ball back after he throws an INT ?

Or the fact that the Pats D has occasionally over the years had some epic collapses and being up by 3 tds was not enough to hold on to the win.

Or the fact that I'm sure BB knows that if he hammers the Colts from day 1 that Luck came in here it may take years for Luck to be able to play well there just like it did for Manning.

The plaque for those who don't take every advantage they can in the NFL is down the hall in the ladies room.

As many others have already said, no Pats fan takes Borges seriously.

This team was the laughing stock of the NFL for decades - Bill coaches them to 3 SB titles and all Borges can do is bash the guy incessantly.

Everybody just loves to bash Belichick, how many starters did John Harbaugh pull last week when the Ravens steamrolled the Raiders 55-20? I'm pretty sure Flacco and many other starters played till the end. They even faked a field goal when the were up by 30+. Gronk could have just as easily broke his arm on the first play of the game yesterday. Football is a tough physical sport and that means people get hurt. Get over it and move on, just like I'm sure the Patriots have.

Ok…come on with it Pats fans…let’s hear all your outrage that ANYONE has the NERVE to second guess the recent 2 Time Super Bowl Loser.

From a Jags fan? That's funny.

But seriously, congrats on (almost) getting your 2nd win of the season.

Not a huge Pats fan but alot of teams have starters on their field goal/ extra point. Watch the Ravens blowout this year and the Bears too. People just wanna hate on the Pats. Love it when they point out 2 superbowl loses, id be happy if my team even made it there…..

NO...NO....

You're are not supposed to make totally rational comments if you're not a Patriots fan!

I cannot justify Brady being out there for that, and at some point an angry defensive player will take a shot on him for this, but you guys act like there is another option for Gronk on PATs. Do you think there are enough players dressed to take all the valuable players off the field in blowouts? Should they have 11 scrubs that can play offense, defense, and special teams in blowouts?

I'll bash Belichick for other things, but this one is ridiculous. There are rarely ever injuries on PATs, so putting a guy out there for that is no big deal.

As long as net points remain a tiebreaker it makes sense for Belichick to try and score as many points as possible when his team is on top. Imagine he pulled Brady, Gronk and other elite players at the start of the fourth quarter and the Pats miss the play-offs by 7 points. Unlikely scenario I know but its not impossible.
