Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie: Nobody has lined up and beaten us

The Eagles have lost six straight games and are coming off a 31-6 pasting at the hands of a 4-6 Redskins team on Sunday afternoon.

Players seem resigned to the fact that coach Andy Reid will be gone in the near future, although it seems that Reid will remain on the job at least through the Week 12 Monday Night game against the Panthers. Not all of the players are resigned to the fact that the 2012 Eagles simply aren’t a good team, though. Zach Berman of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports that cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie kept referring to the team as the most talented in the league while playing a variation on the “We beat ourselves” theme that’s been so popular around the league of late.

“Nobody has lined up and just beat us. No. It’s just mental mistakes,” Rodgers-Cromartie said.

All due respect to Rodgers-Cromartie, but it isn’t. You don’t lose six games in a row by an average of more than 12 points just by making mental mistakes. The Eagles weren’t a play or two away from winning Sunday’s game and they haven’t been close in any of their last four contests. The problems in Philly include mental mistakes, but that’s just the tip of an iceberg that’s getting big enough to sink the Titanic.

Everything’s rotten in Philadelphia right now and the only way it will get better is for the entire organization to admit it.

Thank you for this laugh of the day.

To my fellow long suffering Eagles fans: Buckle your seatbelts, it’s going to be a rough couple of years.

“Nobody has lined up and just beat us. No. It’s just mental mistakes,” Rodgers-Cromartie said.

The Redskins, Cowboys, Saints, Falcons, Lions, Steelers, and Cardinals all just said, “huh?”.

Only dynasty these guys were ever entitled to, is being the laughing stock of the East and the rest of the NFL

  5. godblessfootball says: Nov 19, 2012 10:40 AM

Is this guy really that blind or is he suffering from eternal concussion like symptoms?!?!? Dude, the “cardinals” shipped you out….

  6. tcostant says: Nov 19, 2012 10:43 AM

Compared to the Cards the Eagles must look great to DRC, but the team stinks!

  7. tfoz5150 says: Nov 19, 2012 10:47 AM

Sounds funny, but I tell you what, I have more repect for this guy than anyone else on that team defense. He’s the only only who will call a spade a spade. Does he dress funny, yeah. But when everyone was Castillo bashing (ie Asamgua and other bench players), old boy here was coming to his defense. Saying that he’s made him better. He was the only one. Hows the new DC working out, or the 16 million dollar man? I’ll take DRC any day over the likes of Babin (crybaby), Desean (Diva), or Vick. At least up shows up and stays accountable when the other high priced are in hiding.

  8. acmepackers says: Nov 19, 2012 10:49 AM

Wow. That is precious. Is the circus bigger in Philly or in NY (NYJ)?

  9. jameswestphal says: Nov 19, 2012 10:50 AM

DRC, if you couldn’t run fast you’d starve to death. Maybe the dumbest statement by a non-Jet all season.

  10. doubleogator says: Nov 19, 2012 10:53 AM

One team wins-one team loses. The team that loses got beat by the other team….unless they are playing against themselves they can’t beat themselves. Sometime it’s hard to face the fact that you’re not as good as you think you are, and in the case of the Eagles they are just downright bad.

  11. yetimonster says: Nov 19, 2012 10:58 AM

    Shut up and play, DRC.

    If you’re lucky.

Im starting to believe that the name Cromartie means “talk like an idiot every chance i get”

  14. truthfactory says: Nov 19, 2012 11:00 AM

It’s easier to say you had “mental mistakes” than it is to say “we suck”… Whatever helps you sleep at night bud.

  15. bigblue5611 says: Nov 19, 2012 11:17 AM

Hey Cromartie is right, if it weren’t for the mental mistakes, turnovers, penalties and the other team scoring more points, everybody would be undefeated.

  16. collettegazette says: Nov 19, 2012 11:19 AM

“nobody has lined up and beat us” wonder if he meant “everybody has beat up our line”?The Eagles are just a team of me first types that all got their money and quit ..whats ashame is these guys will all get another big deal when the get released at end of season..can’t teach attitude

  17. bossaliniee says: Nov 19, 2012 11:24 AM

I wouldn’t admit anything, keep grinding Crow if you don’t believe in yourself,u see who will.

  18. vicksprman says: Nov 19, 2012 11:29 AM

Man DRC I am a Eagles homer. I need what your smoking son.

  19. barroomhero80 says: Nov 19, 2012 11:30 AM

All u need is a soft crybaby princess qb like Rodgers and this team would take the cake for pathetic

  20. denverscott says: Nov 19, 2012 11:30 AM

That’s ALOT of mental mistakes. Dr. should write your team a script so you can get a small jet through the A.D.A. for your away games. Leave your helmets on 24-7, even in the shower. Too many soft spots on your beans.

The Eagles are going to win all the games they have left make the playoffs and win the Super Bowl . I’m a Eagles fan since 1988 it’s bad right now but it’s been worst. We’re use to this mess

  23. jbl429 says: Nov 19, 2012 11:40 AM

“The Eagles weren’t a play or two away from winning Sunday’s game and they haven’t been close in any of their last four contests.”

Don’t tell Andy Reid that. After all, he was playing McCoy late in the game because he though they had a chance to win it.

  24. szwhtsup123 says: Nov 19, 2012 11:40 AM

Hey DRC, while you were beating yourself the Redskins were scoring touchdowns. Oh that’s right, you “don’t want to hit nobody” either. That’s why you lost, loser.

  25. spinmasta says: Nov 19, 2012 11:42 AM

There is a rule I go by for politicians. Whatever they say, take the exact opposite of it, and that is probably much closer to the truth than not.

Lets apply that rule to DRC’s comments: “Nobody has lined up and just beat us.”

Now take the exact opposite of that and lets see what we get. I’ll replace “nobody” with “pretty much everybody”.

“Pretty much everybody has lined up and just beat us.”

Yep, I’m pretty sure this is closer to the truth.

  26. east96st says: Nov 19, 2012 11:44 AM

I say this as a Giants fan who despises the Eagles – if they trade some of the overpriced one trick ponies (Babin, Vick, Nnamdi, DeSean) and get five of the biggest, meanest run blocking O linemen money can buy and let LeSean be their main offensive threat with Maclin, Avant, & Celek being your “pass second” receivers, I think they could go to a Super Bowl. I think this may be one of the most mismanaged teams in NFL history. How you ignore the O line in the offseason when you have McCoy is beyond me.

  27. raiderlyfe510 says: Nov 19, 2012 11:45 AM

    So Nnamdi tell us.

What’s the difference between the 3-7 Eagles team and the 3-7 Raider teams that you’ve been on. LOL.

I can tell you one common variable.

  28. jssgriffi says: Nov 19, 2012 11:57 AM

He’s used to being a loser, just like the other corner on the team. We traded the only corner with a winning mentality to Atlanta and look at that defense.

  29. tformation says: Nov 19, 2012 12:19 PM

Wasn’t the margin of victory for two of their three wins this year only by a point or two? Nail biters to the very end?

More evidence toward the “not all that talented” argument than the “beating ourselves” argument to my eye.

  30. demo3356 says: Nov 19, 2012 12:27 PM

Its going to be interesting to watch the wrecking ball be taken to that team this off season. All the high priced free agents and the ill advised contracts like Vicks are going to wreak havoc on the inevitable rebuild they need.

  31. bleed4philly says: Nov 19, 2012 12:34 PM

Somebody stop him from talking, please. He’s an embarrassment to mankind.

  32. granadafan says: Nov 19, 2012 12:58 PM

DRC will be a Jet next year.

  33. phillyphan93 says: Nov 19, 2012 3:16 PM

This attitude is whats wrong with this team. Up and down throughout the organization at this point, makes me miss the good days of Trotter and Dawkins, both of which could probably play next week and start over these guys. What happened yesterday was heartless and a waste of time, they need to clean house, a rebuilding process would be better to watch, then this “dynasty” we have currently.

  34. NakedCowboy! says: Nov 19, 2012 3:31 PM

May be he cant see very well so he doesn’t see anybody lining up… that will explain why he falls down instead of tackling…

  35. datpinoyboy68 says: Nov 19, 2012 5:55 PM

It’s time to blow this team up..simple as that!

  36. dukemarc says: Nov 20, 2012 11:30 AM

Can you believe that this joker some how made a Pro Bowl once?
